In Geoff Dyer's The Colour of Memory the narrator refers to the UK as a 'piss bin of a country'. And I honestly don't think I've ever heard a more fitting description.

My copy of The London Magazine's latest issue arrived yesterday. I'm pleased to have a piece in here about how Brixton has changed since being the setting for Geoff Dyer's debut novel The Colour of Memory. It looks like an excellent issue all round and I look forward to making my way through it!
