All this capitulation is understandable—and slightly less depressing—when you realize that Big Law is bad for the rule of law. For years bars & courts have bent ethics rules to accommodate conflicts of interest stemming from ever-growing practices. Size necessitates constant massive revenue flows…

One potential counterpoint is that insider trading might be separately criminally actionable under the Reps’ home state laws. So maybe attention could result in prosecution? Probably not though. Nobody powerful ever faces consequences. 😕
