A labor of love, finally in peer review, is up as a preprint. This manuscript describes the first group of phages I isolated and characterized after starting what has become my career research focus. 2+ years of work (during ID fellowship mid-COVID!) in one very long document 😬 #phagesky #IDSky

My former co-fellow knocking it out of the park talking about AI in Peds ID! #IDSky #PedsIDSky

Rubio terminated 5800 USAID contracts – more than 90% of its foreign aid programs – in defiance of the courts. Here’s a list of just some of the lifesaving awards that were terminated. Nearly all were Congressionally mandated. They’ve saved millions of lives. 🧵

Late yesterday, we received award termination notices for three of our primary USAID agreements. Read our full statement. pedaids.org/press-releas...

Although we are not federally funded for this summer, WE WILL STILL RUN The National Summer Undergraduate Research Project (NSURP) in 2025. We remain committed to the work that needs to be done and will continue to meet people where they are. 1/4 nsurp.org

Looks like they came for the flu vaccine first. No words for any of this. #IDSky

History taking for the win - and when was the last time you changed/filled your window washer fluid? #IDSky

Apparently I'm not the only one having this problem... NCBI/NLM with outages. Pubmed working so far at least for me... Definition of insanity.

Speechless. Currently in the hospital as the Pediatric Infectious Disease Attending & access to vital info is limited. My duty to each child that I take care of is to have to most up to date information - in order to provide the best possible care. This is unacceptable www.npr.org/sections/sho...

Go to the CDC website now enter any of these words: - lgbtq - transgender - diversity - equity Most of the links w important resources which we use daily to guide care and prioritize interventions for vulnerable populations are currently broken or removed. This erasure will harm. Do not look away.

The National HIV Curriculum, a free educational website from the University of Washington funded by the Health Resources and Services, is currently “temporarily unavailable”. Another great teaching resource for practitioners down 😡 www.hiv.uw.edu

Go Bills!

I get a lot of "lessons learned" questions. My answer is "none." We didn't learn anything. In Jon Cohen's great piece on a recent CoV pandemic meeting @science.org, Maria Van Kerkhove said "everyone is acting as though this pandemic didn’t really happen." That feels more true every day.

Finally out! Phage therapy for diabetic foot ulcers www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

I seem to remember there was a somewhat recent paper that showed that, for febrile neutropenia with a known source, narrowing spectrum of therapy for that source is feasible. Am I making this up? @absteward.bsky.social #IDSky

Amazing thread below #IDSky

Children's hospitals have all the fun #Medsky

I think I know the answer, but has anyone done work with phage and Finegoldia magna? I can't find anything in Pubmed, which is pretty suggestive in itself. #phage #phagetherapy

UB School of Pharmacy students work in a variety of settings, including internationally. In January, I was privileged to work with students while collaborating with physicians in Ghana. They are raising money to go again and would benefit from your help! #IDSky crowdfunding.buffalo.edu/project/44965

The joys and trials of MALDI-ToF in the micro lab. It's great to know that we're treating Kocuria spp. bacteremia rather than some unidentified GPC, but the granularity of that data makes finding historical data for antimicrobial selection that much more difficult. #IDSky

My 12 year old texted this to me today when I tried to be funny. I think I'm in trouble.
