I have met with AOC in person and been on small panel discussions with her. She uses much more Marxist language in those settings. She’s constrained by the framework of the current system. We need more of her to actually make progress happen. By more of her I mean like a lot more.

We must not confuse the progressive, mostly cultural Catholicism practiced by most Irish with dogmatic, oppressive bullshit. Religion will die out eventually, but it can’t be stomped out by force.

Yeah. I’m obviously not talking about people like that. There are leftist Catholics who support abortion and all the things. That’s the point. Humanity had to evolve past religion slowly. It can never come thought state mandate without being unduly oppressive to innocent people.

I say all this as an atheist who used to really love him some Christopher Hitchens. Obviously push back on the bad shit, but some people actually do channel it for good. It’s bad solidarity to exclude religion entirely.

One of the biggest leftist creators I follow lives in Iraq - which literally has YouTube banned/restricted. He is able to engage with the platform and upload content because of his VPN.

Yup. They are cheap enough that people will get one to use TikTok.

Can’t we still use TikTok with a VPN?
