I don’t know about you, but the world’s richest man brandishing a chainsaw and touting his efforts to shrink government spending—all while his companies make millions a day from federal contracts—wasn’t on our 2025 bingo card. www.cnn.com/2025/02/20/p...

Our President, Erica Payne, released the following statement after Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed Senate Bill 8 into law to preserve the state's subminimum wage for tipped workers: patrioticmillionaires.org/press/patrio...

Just as Nero fiddled while Rome burned, Trump golfs while working Americans grapple with the chaos of rising prices and a billionaire dismantling the federal government from within. How's the new golden age working out for you? www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

Trump’s brilliant scheme to ‘abolish’ the IRS in favor of tariffs is great. Great, that is, if you’re one of the wealthy American tax dodgers who’d reap massive savings while working Americans are forced to deal with even more economic uncertainty. www.cnn.com/2025/02/20/e...

If oligarchy wasn’t bad enough, do we really need to worry about an American monarchy now? The 'jokes' shared by both Trump and the official White House social accounts are both un-American and extremely dangerous. Anyone feel like they're testing the waters? www.nytimes.com/2025/02/19/u...

The Michigan House voted yesterday to pass Senator Hertel’s bill, which guts the Court-ordered phaseout of the state’s subminimum wage for tipped workers. Now it's off to Governor Whitmer - and it’s vital that she supports Michigan’s tipped workers by vetoing it.

As the IRS fires 6,000 employees at the direction of the Trump administration (and in the middle of tax season), this is a blatant attack on the agency holding ultra-wealthy tax dodgers accountable and another sign that the billionaire class will go to any length to avoid paying their fair share.

Yesterday, the Patriotic Millionaires took to the streets of Lansing with a clear message for Gov. Whitmer: Failing to veto SB 8 would dismantle Michigan's wage floor and betray the thousands of workers that need a raise.

Gov. Whitmer and Sen. Brinks still have time to stop the economic and political fiasco unfolding in Michigan before it’s too late. Follow our President's call to action below and call both of these lawmakers TODAY and urge them to save the raise in Michigan!

Surprise, surprise. Yet another of Donald Trump's campaign promises, cutting taxes on Social Security benefits for older Americans, turns out to disproportionately benefit wealthy Americans. Seems like the new "golden age" only applies if you're already rich. www.cnbc.com/2025/02/18/t...

As Gov. Whitmer contemplates signing a bill that would dismantle Michigan's wage floor, it's vital that we urge her to stand firm and prove that at least some Democrats are capable of defending working people. Let your voice be heard and demand Big Gretch vetoes SB 8 if it reaches her desk:

As the future of working Michiganders hangs in the balance, Gov. Whitmer has a choice: uphold current laws and help preserve one of the nation's strongest wage floors, or cave to pressure and prove that voters were right in November—you can't trust Democrats.

A constitutional lawyer has written to Michigan's Sen. Brinks and Rep. Hall, informing them that their efforts to change their wage floor is unconstitutional. Yet another reason why Gov. Whitmer shouldn’t sign any bills that roll back progress on wages! patrioticmillionaires.org/letter-from-...

Funny how Trump refused to let anyone see his tax returns, but seems more than happy to give yours to an unelected billionaire. fortune.com/2025/02/17/e...

This Presidents' Day, it seems fitting to focus on Elon Musk. As the world's richest man takes media questions from the Oval Office as if he owns the place—all while gutting agencies across the federal government—it’s clear that oligarchy has arrived in America.

@biggretchenwhitmer.bsky.social , after being a champion of the working class (and our hearts) for so long, don't ruin it by failing to stop legislation that would gut the tipped minimum wage and hurt tipped workers in Michigan. Veto SB 8 and save MI wages!

Ending the carried interest loophole is good economic policy that would help the Democratic party win back working-class voters. Preserving subminimum wages to any degree, and in any state or locale, is not. patrioticmillionaires.org/perspectives...

No matter how they spin it, extending the TCJA and continuing to lavish tax cuts on the ultra-wealthy and corporations will hurt working families, especially low-income households. Don't take our word for it. Our allies at the Economic Policy Institute have compiled a report with the latest data:

In their quest to win back the working-class vote, Democrats have recently taken one step forward and two steps back. Their actions to close the carried interest loophole are tempered by a complete lack of fight on the issue of the subminimum tipped wage. Learn more in our latest Closer Look:

An incredibly important speech from @patrioticmillionaires.org member @abigaildisney.bsky.social during the @icrict.bsky.social #TaxJustice workshop at The Vatican, attended by global leaders and economists. Watch live and replay Abigail’s compelling speech here: www.youtube.com/live/qvkR9RJ...

The fine print couldn't be clearer: Extending the TCJA will be great for corporations and the ultra-wealthy, and terrible for working Americans. www.kiplinger.com/taxes/what-t...

"He and his Dorito-dusted minions have burrowed deep inside the federal government, tearing the thing apart from within by sending workers packing and shutting down programs and entire agencies, testing if not exceeding the bounds of the law and the Constitution in the process." Enough said ⬆️

Historic conversations on taxing the super rich are happening this week at the Vatican, featuring our member Abigail Disney. #taxthepower Join LIVE tomorrow (Feb 13) at 8:30 AM CET www.youtube.com/@CasinaPioIV

As the ultra-rich accumulate more and more wealth, our brains are just not hardwired to understand the astronomical numbers at play, or the gulf separating billionaires from working Americans. Our member Scott Ellis explains:

If you were wondering why the CEOs of America’s tech giants were fawning over Trump at his inauguration, here’s their dirty secret: they’re hoping the GOP will restore a tax provision that will give them a $75 billion windfall. itep.org/alphabet-ama...

Every day, Elon Musk and his DOGE minions gain access to new federal departments and information with no oversight or transparency. If this isn't a coup by the world's richest man, it sure looks like one! apnews.com/article/elon...

Trump's plan to prevent the ultra-wealthy from hoarding money tax-free within sports teams sounds great, though something tells us he'll change his mind the moment one of his billionaire buddies makes a quick call. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

For organizations struggling with high turnover rates and productivity, raising wages is just common sense. Our member John Driscoll explains more in a recent article for Corporate Board Member. boardmember.com/is-the-compa...

Time's cover says it all. President Musk has occupied the White House, and he's not even embarrassed about it... www.cnn.com/2025/02/07/m...

We’ll admit, seeing Donald Trump talk about closing the carried interest loophole is music to our ears, though we’re willing to bet it won’t be long before one of his new buddies convinces the president to change course. Being in thrall to billionaires tends to work like that.

The carried interest loophole is nothing more than a tax cut to a tiny group of people, hedge fund managers, who categorically do not need it. The Carried Interest Fairness Act will ensure these ultra-wealthy hedge fund bros finally pay their fair share.

As the country's most powerful tech bros cozy up to Donald Trump, we're edging ever closer to the oligarchs gaining unlimited influence over our daily lives. With every media outlet and social media platform they buy and control, the need to meaningfully tax the ultra-rich has never been greater.

If you needed more proof that giving outsized political power to billionaires is a bad idea, the richest man in the world is riding roughshod over the federal government with seemingly no oversight, creating a new center of power in Washington and further endangering our democracy:

"Once people get so much money that they no longer can meaningfully improve their own lives...all you can use it for at that point is to undermine capitalism and to distort our democracy." Excessive wealth poses an existential threat to our democracy. Our member Scott Ellis explains:

Despite what Elon Musk may say, Direct File is alive and well! Taxpayers in 25 states can now file their taxes for free using the program. Don’t be fooled by billionaires like Musk or predatory tax prep companies like TurboTax. apnews.com/article/irs-...

More taxes on American workers and their benefits is not the answer. As the GOP scrambles to preserve the tax breaks they gave the ultra-wealthy in 2017, they've repeatedly shown they'll break as many eggs as needed for their gold-plated omelet. www.cnbc.com/2025/02/02/t...

Recently, our Chair, Morris Pearl, touched base with @48hills.bsky.social to talk taxes, inequality, and 'buy, borrow, die.' Check out the full interview here: 48hills.org/2025/02/a-ve...

Have you noticed that Trump's plans to 'tax the world' always mean disastrous tariffs for working people—never making his billionaire buddies, toadies, and nepo babies pay their fair share? www.politico.eu/article/dona...

Crony capitalism is alive and well in Washington. As Elon Musk entrenches himself in the Trump White House, America's largest companies are scrambling to cement new deals with his companies and ensure they have an inside track with the President's "First Buddy."

A report published by our allies at ITEP shows that Tesla avoided almost all federal income tax on nearly $11 billion of U.S. income from 2022-24. Do we really want its CEO running the government as Trump's "first buddy"? itep.org/tesla-report...

If Democrats want to weather the Trump storm, they need to find a life raft and adopt a transformative tax policy agenda that centers the interests of working people. The Patriotic Millionaires explain more in our latest Closer Look: patrioticmillionaires.org/perspectives...

"The world’s richest man, Elon Musk, is overseeing DOGE. Billionaires or mega-millionaires are lined up to run the treasury, commerce, interior and education departments, NASA and the Small Business Administration, and fill key foreign posts." What more than we say? American oligarchy has arrived.

Jeff Bezos is now worth $252 billion. He's now officially a quarter of the way to becoming a trillionaire. But wait - if that number feels staggering, it pales in comparison to Elon Musk's $417 billion. If you haven’t realized already, we have a billionaire problem.

A dark-money group founded by the Koch Brothers is pouring $20 million to persuade voters to support extending Trump's tax cuts. That alone should be enough evidence that it's not in your best interests to do so. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Republicans are willing to put tax breaks for working families on the chopping block to extend the expiring provisions of their 2017 tax bill that overwhelmingly favored the wealthy. They will stop at nothing to give more largesse to the billionaire class.

As a growing number of people struggle to make ends meet, one of the world's most popular luxury car manufacturers is spending $80 million to expand a service that lets you match the color of your Jaguar with your private jet and yacht. The wealth gap is a chasm.

Trump's madcap plan to offer thousands of IRS agents a choice between losing their jobs or being armed and sent to police the border isn't just idiotic, it's a great way to ensure that his ultra-rich cronies won't have their taxes properly audited any time soon.

Over 370 millionaires and billionaires sent a message to the world leaders at Davos this week: draw the line and tax us, the super rich. wemustdrawtheline.org

As Donald Trump nears the end of his first week back in office, our member Scott Ellis was mentioned in AP on the importance of monitoring billionaire wealth increases under the new administration.
