I have a daily alert on my phone: “Find beauty in the wreckage.” It’s a quote from journalist, author, wife, mom @sarahkendzior.bsky.social This is meaty love, love with skin in the game; love that gets its hands dirty.Wherever you are friend, I hope you find beauty to sustain you today. #THEYKNEW

It's #showyourstripes day. Here is the bar graph for the temperature change over the pst 150 years or so in #winnipeg. The temperature increase in the last 25 years is significant. We need to deal with the #climatecrisis not just nationally & internationally, but locally. showyourstripes.info

“No one leaves home unless home is the mouth of a shark. You only run for the border when you see the whole city running as well” - Warsan Shire On #WorldRefugeeDay, remember: no one chooses to be a refugee. But we can choose our response. ‘Us and them’ are fictions. There should only ever be ‘we.’

Liberal and Conservative MPs voted to pass the government's major projects legislation this evening.

Satire but....

I suspect that fact that the vast majority of LLM users don’t seem to have received this (really very simple!) message is because the AI companies have a vested interest in us not understanding it. “ChatGPT is smart, it just makes mistakes sometimes” is much more marketable than the truth.

This.👇🏽

Tommy Prince was one of the most decorated soldiers in Canadian history through two different wars. But after his war service finished, he was forgotten by the country he had served. This is the story of Tommy Prince. 🧵 1/20

Less than 1% of Rebel News content meets the legal bar for "news", from a 3 week period that Rebel News itself selected for review by the Federal Court. Finally! #cdnpoli

Physical rehab services, incl physiotherapy, are not required in provincial health coverage for ppl outside of hospitals. Thus, what exists for our neighbors in our communities varies. This creates giant gaps news.umanitoba.ca/physio-study... #Manitoba #cancer #physiotherapy

The obsession is real. This argument hits closer to home when the prairie air quality is a 10+. Where is the emergency and national outrage?

The protests & slowdowns & leaks & refusals to comply & boycotts & strikes & antifascist art & gumming up the works & sanctuary projects & all the other stuff that we’ve got to run all at once have to feel like that too. Break their hold bit by bit. Here, there, & over here too, until - whoosh.

June is National Indigenous History Month, a time to learn the history of Turtle Island, honour the strength and resilience of First Nations, Métis, Inuit, and Indigenous Peoples, and recommit to advancing human rights for all. #UNDRIP #TRC #MMIWG2S #HumanRights

It's been an interesting news day, and a great reminder that women are far too emotional to hold positions of power. 🙄

My Globe and Mail op-ed on lawful access: “Bill C-2 is far from just a border bill. The government and law enforcement are running back a decades-old warrantless access playbook that should be roundly rejected as it trades a border crisis for a privacy one.” www.theglobeandmail.com/gift/bc5ccfd...

once again I must tap my own sign

I made this Pride flag using only NASA images and our team thought it would be cool to share on social (I work on the NASA heliophysics communications team), but it's getting all sorts of hate on the bird app and Fbook. Thought y'all might be more appreciative of it here. ☺️🏳️‍🌈💖

"'We know the premier is telling untruths to First Nations... Our rights are not being respected,' Mamakwa said after being warned by the Speaker. When asked to withdraw his statement, Mamakwa refused, and said his comment on the premier is 'the truth.' He was then asked to leave." Reconcili-ACTION

Authoritarians have to disrupt trust in institutions that they can't control. "According to a survey carried out last fall by the Pew Research Center, the American people trust scientists far more than the federal government." So they are undermining scientists. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/03/c...

In a world overwhelmed by injustice, we must remember: our pain is deeply interconnected, but it is not interchangeable. Healing requires the courage to hold space for every form of suffering, without collapsing one into another. Each grief is sacred. Each loss deserves its own dignity.

It's that glorious time of year! When the Manitoba Library Association - Prison Libraries Committee along with the BarNone Prison Visiting Rideshare, hosts it's annual Book & Bake Sale! Oh - did I mention it's pay-what-you want?! Cash only please! See you there!

Matthew Rankin began his speech in Farsi, took a detour into French and wound back toward English when accepting the Canadian Screen Award for achievement in direction Sunday for Universal Language, a feature film set at a dreamy intersection connecting Winnipeg to Tehran.

I appreciate this message, and I'll add on: I am a Jewish person and I do not want any peaceful Palestinian, Muslim, or Arab activists in the United States to face deportation or legal reprisals for their activism, in the supposed name of Jewish safety.

I think the latter is actually more important! That health is treated by some as an indication of the value of a person is a (?subtle) manifestation of racist and eugenicist hierarchies.

Happy Pride Winnipeg! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

My final contribution to #WorldPhysio2025 is this morning, in Hall B7-1 in the 915 am block: The trouble with weight (stigma): from weight-centric to health-at-every-size physiotherapy. We share findings from pur narrative study comparing #HealthAtEverySize physios to those without that background.

#WorldPhysio2025 day two highlight was the panel on #TraumaInformed practice emphasizing the human dimensions of care. Thoughtfully designed and integrated, the panel closed with April Gamble sharing the voices & strategies of Palestinian physiotherapists working in Gaza. 1/2

@rmaltby.bsky.social My most recent article: Gaza is starving | The Kingston Whig Standard www.thewhig.com/opinion/gaza...

My first #WorldPhysio2025 presentation today is a discussion of valuesin guidelines. Discussions are for contentious issues; I'll be bringing a #CriticalPhysio perspective to the panel, relying heavily on STS scholars to do so. 1430, in Hall B5 It'll be more lively than the description sounds!
