www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... “Drivers can be super aggressive - nothing can get in their way. For some the car is an extension of their virility and if anyone touches their car … it’s taken as a personal attack.” #JeSuisPaulVarry

A very clear response from London Fire Commissioner, Andy Rowe to a question at Fire Plenary last week from Emma Best AM about the impact of LTNs on fire brigade attendance times. "We genuinely couldn't find any evidence of LTNs doing anything to our overall attendance times".

Active Travel England announces new £300m funding package for walking and cycling. Aim is modal shift of 30 million car and bus journeys per year to active travel. Also with guidance for community engagement which the anti-cycling movement is really not going to like 👍 www.gov.uk/government/n...

£38m investment in walking and cycling in the South East of England from Active Travel England. £6m for Surrey. Great to see the commitment to prioritising Active Travel over both car AND bus journeys. This is the way. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Social and environmental justice means opposing controlled parking zones now. So we can add that to the opposition to ULEZ, road pricing, cycle lanes, LTNs, hire bikes, pedestrianisation of shopping centres and historic squares in the City. Hard to see the common denominator ….

Good morning from the C9 cycle lane in Hammersmith, which offers blue light responders a vital way to bypass the incessant traffic jams that have always blighted the town centre. But tell me again how cycle lanes are causing ambulance delays 🙃

Charing Cross Road, pedestrianised today. Glorious. Because whenever you take cars away, cities get better.

www.bbc.com/news/article... Very cool. Priority for everybody not in a car on every roundabout please.

I wonder why old men like Vincent Stops and John Stewart and Dave Hill don’t want women like this cycling in London?

A reminder that cycle infrastructure allows more women to cycle

Gareth Richards and the Richmond Lib Dems appear confused: Somehow their plan to induce 30,000 cars per day into residential streets in Barnes in London by reopening Hammersmith Bridge to cars squares with their pledge to clean the air in the Borough!

Exactly the same in Hounslow where Chiswick Conservatives weaponise Active Travel and expend extraordinary levels of energy on fearmongering, even using astroturf lobby groups like OneChiswick to amplify hatred for cyclists. While in Labour wards AT schemes progress with no fuss.

A big night at Wirral Council last night as the majority of councillors (🟢🔴🟠 vs 🔵) voted to progress our 'Core Active Travel Network - a network of routes that will eventually connect the borough by walking, wheeling and cycling. A little thread about the night and some personal thoughts 🧵

Perhaps instead of demanding that residents in other Boroughs suffer from displacement of traffic from Wandsworth it is time that Simon Hogg cultivated his own garden and did something to reduce car use in Wandsworth. His ideological opposition to LTNs isn’t helping his residents and voters.

Don’t worry I have plenty more to say about the hubris of this notorious anti-cycling troll. This is the second time he has claimed moral superiority over “cyclists” shortly before putting himself in an ambulance. This time: Filming with a mobile phone at 3am ✅ No helmet ✅ Riding hire bike ✅

Ha ha SEJ reported me. For what exactly? Highlighting that Ediz is a liability to himself above all. Mark my words - that guy is going to put himself into an early grave one way or another and the people at SEJ will bear a large part of the responsibility for using him as their dancing bear.

This notorious velophobe is actually going to kill himself if he keeps pretending he is a cyclist for attention on X. How many times has he put himself in an ambulance now since he started his anti-cycling campaign a few years ago?

If Dave cycles with his kids every day then why does he have to post a six year old video to prove it? What is Dave hiding when he is campaigning to remove protected cycle lanes from his children and force them to cycle in the main carriageway with buses?

Great to see Frank Sidebottom got his invitation to the inauguration

Insightful political analysis from people in Ealing objecting to the approval of works to install a new small section of cycle lane on Boston Road. The indisputable proof that democracy does not exist is that people get what they vote for.

The politics of urban planning. Political affiliation really does dictate how people react to proposals to make streets safer and more pleasant. Conservatives and right wingers just love car dominance and hostile streets.
