Guess what I am going to be checking tomorrow!

Ah, genealogy friends. Some days our tech fails. My Speaking Calendar page disappeared from my website. In the meantime, I have posted my genealogy presentations info through mid-April on my blog. genealogybypaula.com

Disgusted, angry, sad, and scared that elected and non-elected people connected to the White House are selling the U.S. to the orange guy's owner. Then there are the elected lemmings in Congress that keep applauding all this crap. The spillover into parts of all states shows too many more lemmings.

February is ending. My genealogy colleagues and I are finishing up syllabus sections for the 2025 GRIP Genealogy Institute 22-27 June virtual week. Join us in classes by registering at grip.ngsgenealogy.org Read up on each course for June and then for July in-person courses.

Watched Joy Reid tonight. Such an honest, caring, and on topic person. Dangit MSNBC. Now watching Antiques Roadshow as I can't take any more news tonight. 😒

Even thought I didn't vote for the "man" who is now sometimes at the White House, I wonder more and more why others did. I didn't know other U.S. citizens in various political offices could go this low and continue getting lower. Evil, despicable, stupid, mean, uncaring, egotistical, dictatorial,

Lots of interest on my January blog post about Saint Paul, Minnesota building permits available online. Since then, I've been asked several times about Minneapolis. That updated info is on my blog today. genealogybypaula.com

I need to start a list of politicians who are failing me, my family, my friends, my state, my country, and my world. Then for future elections I will have a ready-made list of who NOT to donate to or vote for. Dang, it's going to be a long list.

A U.S. citizen born here & always proud of my country, I know we need to do our part to keep our country safe, legal, caring, & more. I know we elected our politicians to Congress to work for us. Some speak up but most publicly ignore what is coming from the despicable administration & cohorts.

I've been researching about my own family tree and that of clients for a long time. I'm thankful to have this to occupy my time during the 2024 election months and now with the awfulness of the current White House. It's been a mental health healer on many days. I bet many others find it helps.

2 more days! Register for GRIP Genealogy Institute 2025 on Tues Feb 4 at 1pm ET for June online courses, 3pm ET for Jul in-person courses. Please join in our NEW online course 22-27 June and also enjoy fantastic instructors & an extensive syllabus. #genealogy grip.ngsgenealogy.org/courses/beyo...

Unlocked as in FREE. Thank you Legacy Family Tree Webinars.

2 Hybrid presentations Sat. Feb 1. Join me with the Orange County Calif Gen. Society for Ethnic organizations and their records and Family History Details in Old Historical and Genealogical Records. Much online and much still in repositories. Some neat examples. occgs.com 10 am PST, Noon CST.

On a more upbeat note, I've updated my genealogy presentations calendar on my website into early September 2025. Still some dates open for more presentations. Click on Speaking tab and then Upcoming Presentations, then on the host organization's name to view its website. genealogybypaula.com

I now fear that the uncaring, asinine, and deadly actions of the administration will result in deaths of some people, including some in my extended family. Can the orange one be charged with murder in such deaths?

Saw a family in a restaurant today. Two adorable little ones. Mainly Spanish speaking adults. I wanted to hug them and tell them I want them to be safe here in Minnesota.

Friday night. I have heard that some people have a social life. Me? I'm working on PowerPoint slides for upcoming presentations. I am happy to be doing just that. Even better when I find just what I need for the toughest one!

Below zero temp and way below zero wind chill. Took the college student shopping today so she could get all the life necessities before she is back in class on Tuesday. She treated me to lunch, too. Target in Roseville was more crowded than Christmas shopping time We are tough Minnesotans!

Watching the replay of President Carter's funeral on C-SPAN. Moving, tear producing, reminders of a good, caring, real Christian family man, and leader of this country on so many important issues. Reminders of how far from that the President-elect continues to be.

Way back in high school when my Mom insisted I take typing class and also 4 years of Latin, I was not happy. As a professional genealogist, I look upward and thank her for both. #genealogy p.s. As an adult, I found out the Latin teacher, Mrs. Kurtz, was an old school friend of my Mom's!

Today I drove by a mall, Target, two grocery stores, several restaurants, and other places. Holy moly! Packed parking lots even in the single digit weather. We Minnesotans don't let the weather stop us any day.

4 Feb 2025 registration for GRIP Genealogy Institute. Virtual courses June, in-person courses July. Great coordinators and instructors plus behind-the-scenes people. Education beyond the usual. BEYOND suggests this course and extensive syllabus. grip.ngsgenealogy.org/courses/beyo... . #genealogy

1:30 a.m. is for chasing new leads after reviewing genealogical research files from long ago. Really long ago. Found a few pictures I knew I had and a few items to check next time I go to the Minnesota Historical Society. #genealogy.

1st #genealogy handout for 2025 and added the correct year for copyright! A FREE half-day seminar on U.S. railroad history, employment records, historical societies, retirement, maps, and more for the Peoria (IL) Public Library Jan 18, 10:30-1:00 CST. peoria.librarycalendar.com/event/riding...

Amazing what we genealogists can find via our public libraries! That extra value for your library card if you are checking for genealogical and historical items. genealogybypaula.com

@myheritageofficial.bsky.social email notice of a match involving a long-ago search and thus clues to a missing newspaper article!! FamilySearch full-text search produced 2 proofs on a different research problem. All exciting. Well, other than that neither are my own family. Still satisfying! 🙂

A perfect Saturday afternoon with my fellow instructors working on our presentations and syllabus material for the June GRIP new virtual course "Beyond Digging Deeper: Sources, Methods, and Practices." It takes time to prepare all these new sessions, and we are full into it!

#Genealogy #History June 22-27 virtual courses for the outstanding GRIP Genealogy Institute offering extensive continuing education. Your own computer. Your own air conditioning! GRIP has the full course and session descriptions online! More about it and my brand-new course at genealogybypaula.com

Keep trying to tell myself all these "presidential" nominations and appointments are part of my ongoing nighttime nightmares. Then it's daylight and they are reality. As my toddlers used to say many years ago, Yucky.

#genealogy for a big win. Found a document perfect as an example of why we research beyond our ancestral line and collateral relatives in all generations. New one is now in an upcoming presentation to show those who marry into the family and those who are neighbors also matter and offer clues.

Busy week. Website and speaking calendar updated. Contracts sent out. Haircut done. PowerPoint already in review for next Thursday. Now working on a client research report aided by a soothing cup of hot cocoa. #genealogy

Native American #genealogy and #historical research is a big part of my research work. To read more about the joys and some sad parts. genealogybypaula.com

Technology is great! Sitting in Saint Paul and watching my oldest grandnephew playing hockey in Carlyle, Canada via YouTube. A free game tonight. Go Hounds!
