📰 Check out our @paulasweeney.bsky.social's latest paper, 'Persons, Unique Value and Avatars', in which she explores whether personal avatars / digital duplicates might undermine the value humans hold by virtue of their uniqueness. Now out in Minds and Machines!

Perfect excuse to watch the Royal Tenenbaums for the twentieth time. ❤️

Erm..not sure that this is the message that we want to put across to our students, University of Aberdeen.

University admins claim to be "data-driven" and "run universities like a business," but when study after study finds liberal arts majors get good outcomes, are cheap to run, and are in fact profit centers, admins cut them anyway for ideological reasons. ncnewsline.com/2023/11/16/n...

New in AI and Society. I argue that a robot being a loved ‘significant other’ is not itself a reason for granting robot rights. But I also propose that, under certain conditions, the destruction of a beloved robot could be a hate crime. @kamilmamak.bsky.social link.springer.com/article/10.1...

I am once again reminding all you BlueSky peeps that there's no algorithm here. Don't just like posts - repost them well - or no one will see the post you like so much!
