There’s no point fact checking people to whom reason need not apply, but 1. None of them were US Army generals 2. Lee was an engineer in Mexico and did not command. Bragg commanded a battery. Hill and Pickett did not command in Mexico. None of the rest were there. 3. None of them advised in 1898

8 January 1932 | A Norwegian Jewish boy, Leopold Moses Borøchstein, was born in Kristiansund. He arrived at #Auschwitz in a transport together with his mother Masha and four siblings on 3 March 1943. They were all murdered in a gas chamber after selection.

This is the single most important advice any creative person needs to hear. There are of course factors such as financial insecurity or mental and physical impediments (spoons ≠ motivation even though people will tell you they are the same) but when you can, do, whether you feel inspired or not.

I think journalists, policymakers and good govt types are struggling to understand DOGE because their mental model is that it is a government reform commission, operating like previous ones. Maybe. But it might be better to start thinking about it as a hostile takeover of the govt by oligarchs.
