I’ve always loved @themountaingoats.bsky.social ‘s music, but now I love their cultural analysis.

Oh, just submitting my book manuscript the day before I head to Rome for some manuscript research on a new project kinda vibes this frigid Tuesday.

Post a perfect album from the 90s that isn’t Nirvana or Pearl Jam

It’s me.

Talking Mark and Judaism over Greek food with @paultsloan.bsky.social Logan Williams, John van Maaren, Jacob Mortensen, and Kasper Bro Larsen #sblaar24

See you at 4pm?

Another one! #sblaar24 run group on the Embarcadero! @nickelder.bsky.social @runhudi.bsky.social and more!

This is the content we need at #sblaar24. Thanks @ryancollman.bsky.social !

First #sblaar24 run group meeting in the books. @runhudi.bsky.social @nickelder.bsky.social @maklelan.bsky.social and others hit the road at 6:30 this morning.

Taught two classes today. Recorded an online lecture before 6am. Rolled into the terminal at MKE five minutes before departure. Dodged a snow storm on the way. My point? I’m on my way to #sblaar24 but I was never combobulated to begin with. At MKEAirport

Purchased! I had to pay shipping, so it totaled $21-ish. Grab @ryancollman.bsky.social ‘s excellent book on the cheap!

NT / EC Studies Hive Mind: I’m finishing up an intro exegesis course syllabus on Romans and I have a few slots for reception history. Any accessible seminary-level articles or patristic / modern passages of Romans interp you would recommend? 20pp.-ish

I think my abstract has been accepted (or not?) to Oxford Patristics. See those of you who like Origen, Paul, or Origen and Paul there. Hopefully.

My favorite day in Intro NT is my “Here’s some bits of Stoic physics… Now here’s Paul talking about baptism and the Spirit” lecture. The red dots are πνεύμα, drawn last week in my setup lecture. Today, I draw “clothing in Christ” and “Christ formed in you” in there.

I am *very* interested in this!

It’s one of those “Crushed moth on your student’s paper” days. My scribble reads: “Sorry (student)! A moth found its way into my grading folder and then got crushed in my bag! Sic transit gloria mundi.”

Another extremely fascinating fragment from the Taylor-Schechter Genizah collection containing excerpts related to the life of Jesus (apparently not Toledot Yeshu) in Judeao-Arabic:

This is a big deal

“Is this the good place?”

Matthew, Luke, and Thomas in a second- or third-century papyrus—but not Q!

Here's my latest article, in open access: I analyze Mark's use of immersive narrative to portray ritual acts in reference to baptism, arguing that attention to rites known prior to Mark (i.e. in Paul) allows audience-oriented readings via text-oriented means. www.mdpi.com/2077-1444/14...
