This is an excellent and timely factsheet on Ukraine, U.S. v. European security assistance, and other misunderstood or lied about aspects of the war, by our friends at @thestudyofwar.bsky.social. I'll summarize a few main points below, with additional sources of my own:

Of all the things Elon Musk has said, this is the worst. We cannot rely on Trump and his shadow president Musk. The UK must boost defence spending and take the lead in Europe.

Sir Nick Harvey, former UK Armed Forces Minister& current CEO of @europeanmovement.co.uk, offers his view on the latest developments around the war in Ukraine. ‘PM Keir Starmer right to propose sending British troops to join a peace-keeping force in Ukraine if & when any peace deal is concluded’

Calling Zelensky a “Dictator” must be where the line is drawn. It is my sincere hope that the whole political spectrum in the United Kingdom will speak with one voice in opposition to Trump’s lies.

Ukraine will fight, no matter how many Russian lies Trump repeats. Here’s what we, in Europe should do to help them, and defend ourselves. There’s no time to waste. (No paywall on this link) foreignpolicy.com/2025/02/18/e...

If we could power the National Grid from Reform hypocrisy then we’d be set for life. It’s not just their hypocrisy which is staggering, but the sheer stupidity of their policies which would undermine Britain’s energy security and make us far more dependent on Putin’s Russia.

Trump’s talks with Putin threaten Ukraine’s freedom and Europe’s security. If the US won’t lead, the UK must. The Government must act now – let’s pass an emergency law to seize Russian assets by Monday.

“This Bill is simple in its aims, to ensure that it is the people of this country – not the deep pockets of foreign billionaires, oligarchs or corporate interests – who decide our country’s future in elections” 💬 @mp4stratford.bsky.social calls for caps on donations in British politics

It’s a small step but an important one to signal that we should stand stand by or accept hateful content or those who were rather align themselves with Nazi gestures

Trump’s new world chaos offers possibilities for post-Brexit Britain. New post on my Brexit & Beyond Blog. The UK's choice isn’t just between US & EU, it's about the new global divide, and it could finally change the stale politics of Brexit: chrisgreybrexitblog.blogspot.com/2025/02/trum...

Newly arrived from the former place. Gradually re-following where I can. I'll sort out the avatar later.
