Unreal and CommonUI completely broke my spirit for like 2 weeks, but finally getting back on the wagon to finish a few basic UI elements.. Ended up just writing my own UI menu & input nav logic entirely just so I can move forward again. Ugh. #gamedev

I've been so buried in Expedition 33 and Fantasy Life the last few weeks that I kept putting off trips to the arcade, but there's something about taking 2-3 weeks off that does MAGIC for rhythm game timing 😤 Good session, my hands are withered husks.

I've been diving into learning CommonUI this weekend to hopefully solve through a lot of UI workflow woes I always find myself in, and man. Why is UI <-> Input routing so freaking weird in Unreal? It's the most obtuse cat-wrangling thing I think I've ever had to work with in gamedev.

Finished up the 99 grind with a buddy tonight

Still cruising on things this week but starting to feel like these videos all sort of blend together. Hopefully the next share looks a little more fresh! Clair Obscur also getting in the way... Tons of little improvements though, also adding debug tackle swapping & a spike on a tackle tool #gamedev

File this one under "Nobody probably notices but animators", but I've been trying to find a good way to handle move logic to continually track L/R foot locations (contact, passing, etc.) to play a blended stop anim and also start on a different foot kick-off the next time you begin moving. #gamedev
