I like books. Also politics, but I'm trying the 12 step detox programme. Food, music, travel and films get my interest too. Lake District resident (well, give or take a mile or two). My Storygraph page: https://tinyurl.com/f5nxttet

Caught up on the first few episodes of #Reacher tonight. It's one of the most faithful book-to-TV adaptations I've seen. Big guy, beats up bad guys. Can't go wrong!

What a lovely idea

OK, so I might have broken the rule a teeny tiny little bit #bookshop #booksky #reading

Oh good lord so am I.

Visited mum today, she got her MA last year. Her tutor had called her up to ask if she'd be interested in a job with the Uni facilitating new students onto the course. Words can't express how unbelievably proud that makes me. She's not just good, she's *that* bloody good at what she does.

Oh, by the way, this is the bookshop I posted about earlier. It's arguably the best second hand bookshop I've ever been in. #bookshop #booksky #reading #books

Beautiful day by the seaside today.

Discovered a real gem, the Morecambe Bay Chowder Company. Highly recommended.

Going to one of my favourite bookshops today. May or may not break the "reduce the TBR pile by not buying books" rule I've been following for a while now... #bookshop #booksky #reading

Spent a productive* few hours today watching deep cleaning videos on YouTube. Didn't mean to, it just... happened... *When I say "productive", what I actually mean is, well... um... the exact opposite 🙄

Been looking forward to this for a while, Sam Fender is a national treasure, for me the best young artist the UK has produced for years. And yes, I am getting the CD too. #musicsky #currentlylistening #rocknroll

Just been to the cinema in Ulverston to watch the Importance of Being Earnest (stage play from National Theatre), it adds to the atmosphere that it's a proper 1930's art deco cinema that they try to keep it authentic, including little paper tickets and ice cream at the interval!

Romance is one of the most targeted genres for book bans. For this week's Shelf Love interview—in collaboration with @authorsabb.bsky.social—we talk to romance royalty Meg Cabot of the Princess Diaries fame about the ways romance fiction can kindle a love of books: pen.org/meg-cabot-sh...

Starting the day off right #musicsky #currentlylistening #music

I feel the desperate need to go to this church, where I shall wear a long black raincoat and look Mysterious yet Wise. As it's in Scotland the brooding will probably be cut short by rain.

Best place in the world

The Buttermere valley.

I had the red velvet, by the way.

First game of the season won. 100% record. In fact, might as well just call the league now. Please. #rugbyleague #barrowraiders

I love this idea. Need cake but can't choose? Do a four in one from one of the best baker's in the North.

Drank a bottle of wine, ate snacks and watched Twister this evening with my wife while we laughed like idiots at all the dramatic bits. Perfect evening, in almost every way, really.

Finished the novelisation of Chris Nolan's next movie today. Felt a bit derivative, like there was more story to be told but I'm sure it'll look great on the big screen. #booksky #reading #books

Lunch today. There's some darn fine eatin' round these parts.

The seasons are changing, fields round my way will be full of these little guys soon.

Ended up listening to Taylor Swift all morning...

Starting today by finally finding out what the kids have been listening to
