Forest Shuffle with @kbowenwriter.bsky.social - thanks to @charger703.bsky.social for introducing it to me at Prezcon

Played "Rock Hard 1977" by @jackiefox.bsky.social with @hokiestone.bsky.social at Prezcon last week, and I have to say, it rocked!

Played Faraway for the first time at Prezcon last week with @hokiestone.bsky.social . Pretty clever - would love to try it again

Artificial Gullibility

To be honest, I don't understand why any private individual or organization needs to abide by EOs. They direct the executive branch of the U.S. Government. They're not royal decrees.

Trump is the energy emergency—and he’s killing jobs and raising costs. My joint statement with @senatorheinrich.bsky.social regarding Republicans’ rubber-stamping of Trump’s war on affordable, American-made energy:

Less welcome more playtesting

“There was a time when a newspaper, especially one that was a local monopoly, might have seen it as a service to bring to the reader’s doorstep every morning a broad-based opinion section that sought to cover all views,” Bezos said via X. “Today, the internet does that job.” The internet. Really.

I used to live in New London, which was pretty cool.

My cat did not react well to this.

We're really fond of this one. @lookoutgames.bsky.social

I misread the original post as "girlsy murder" and thought it was done with an eyebrow pencil or something.

-12 F / -24 C ? Where on earth do you live (if you don't mind my asking)?

I'm retiring soon, and this is near the top of my list. Hope you are doing okay with all that you are dealing with. God bless you and your family.

Picked up "Fast Forward: Flee" at the Prezcon auction store - tried it with @kbowenwriter.bsky.social after I got home. Clever logic co-op that teaches the rules as you play - no rulebook. Fascinated by this analog game adaptation of what video games have done for years @podfathergaming.bsky.social

How about cubes? @mattwolfe.bsky.social boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/17...

One thing I do appreciate about being home from Prezcon is how blessedly quiet my home is.

Prezcon wrap-up: - Played a lot in open gaming - White Castle (adding to wishlist), So Clover, Green Team Wins, Andromeda's Edge (didn't work for me) - unloaded 13 games in the auction store and bought Flee, Port Royal, and Star Wars Destiny 2/2

Prezcon is a wrap. Since Friday morning: - ran Catan second heat (36 participants), semifinal (15 qualifiers), and a four-player final - won one heat of Lost Cities but didn't qualify for the quarterfinals - lost both heats of 7 Wonders 1/2

This morning open gaming was five-player Lords of Baseball - such a thematic implementation. Also won a heat of Lost Cities. Later will be running another Catan heat.

Day 5 of Prezcon. Yesterday lost at Acquire again. Ran the first heat of the Catan tournament - seven 4-player tables. Wish I'd taken pictures of all the blinged-out Catan sets people brought. Late night open gaming included a six-player Bang! session including @hokiestone.bsky.social

Back to losing at Prezcon with Acquire this morning followed by Lost Cities. Another heat of Acquire this afternoon...

Got my first competitive win at Prezcon yesterday in "Power Grid." @hokiestone.bsky.social arrived along with others, so we played Forest Shuffle, Castle Combos, and Faraway in open gaming. Finished running the "Pillars of the Earth" tournament last night

Continuing my (not winning) streak at Prezcon finishing fourth in a 5p session of Puerto Rico

Thank you for the affirmation!

The not-winning trend at Prezcon continues with a 3rd-place finish in a 4p game of Lords of Waterdeep.

Running the "Pillars of the Earth" tournament at Prezcon

I guess this is a hotel lobby decoration decision - books on shelves 11 feet above the floor, like we're kids that can't be trusted with ideas and new ways of thinking.

That would be "Prezcon." ("Pezcon" sounds like a candy dispenser fair.)

It does beg the question of military resiliency.

2p open gaming at Prezcon - lost "Watergate," won "Pillars of the Earth: Builders Duel"

Pezcon Day 2: My first game of Medici. Last place, but I love bidding games like this, and Dr. Knizia is a master. Also this is the worst graphic design I have ever seen in a board game.

Continued my losing ways in Day 1 of Prezcon - Century Spice Road and Bohnanza

Day 1 at Prezcon - finished 3rd of 4 in a very close game of St Petersburg (not pictured) and 2nd of 4 in a not-so-close game of Ticket to Ride

A game of "7 Wonders Duel" with @kbowenwriter.bsky.social , who went on to beat me by ONE STINKIN' POINT despite my narrowly missing a science victory

Yesterday @kbowenwriter.bsky.social and I played "Architects of the West Kingdom." Therese was a noble of little virtue and did not lift a finger toward the cathedral, but she built some nice buildings and paid off her debts.

We used to get cedar waxwings for a few days in November, in our Bradford pear, but we haven't seen them in years.

I would start here, thanks to @elizhargrave.bsky.social : boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/297...

Jaipur, then Sky Team

Argh.

Lost to @kbowenwriter.bsky.social at "Glass Road" which I love for the elegant action selection-following mechanism, not to mention the resource wheels - confirmed prefer over "Black Forest"

looking back, AOL had it right. 30 hours of internet per month was the right amount.

Sorry to learn of the loss of your dad. May the angels lead him to Paradise.

Chris Pine! I mean, Leo Dicaprio! No, wait, Brad Pitt! Oh, who was he with in Good Will Hunting? Oh, I hate this game!

Lost to @kbowenwriter.bsky.social in "Ticket to Ride: Switzerland" - I completed more tickets, but she racked up a big in-game lead with long connections. Also spent three turns trying to complete a tunnel to Austria...

This is what we need from our journalists. All of this.
