Overheard: “William Henry Harrison had a better first 100 days, and he spent 70 of them dead.”

Hey look @stonemaiergames.com was on CNN (illustrated by some boardgames you might recognize): "If we shipped all the games to the US that we started making in January, it would amount to around $1.5 million in tariffs."

I can see I'm not alone on this, but she deserves the attention. #FirstBadCrush

Yesterday played "Castle Dice" by Luke Peterschmidt with @kbowenwriter.bsky.social - came down to the tie-breaker again. This might be my favorite dice-drafting game - well, except for Troyes ... maybe.

As an Annapolis graduate, I am seriously concerned at this turn in Academy leadership. I don't expect the Academy to take some kind of liberal stand, but I do expect them to maintain academic integrity, and I don't see that here. It's an embarrassment to the principles of the institution.

"Science and Seance Society" by @dnlnwmn.bsky.social with @kbowenwriter.bsky.social resulted in a Seance win this time - love this asymmetric game of managing card vs dice luck

Movie you've watched more than six times using gifs (with alt text) (Hard mode - no Star Wars, Star Trek, LotR)

If you see this, quote the energy you bring to Bluesky.

Seems appropriate for today. Thank you, Wendy Cope.

"Beer and Bread" by @scottalmes.bsky.social @capstone-games.com on the front porch with @kbowenwriter.bsky.social who picked out the game before I even got home from work - great choice!

Post a gif you can hear

For real, though.

4p "Puerto Rico" at the FLGS after work tonight - tied for 2nd just two points behind the winner. Such a timeless game

All of us team leaders were scheduled for a 2 PM call ran by the executive team. After a bunch of chit-chat, it finally kicked off 17 minutes late, then ran over BY AN HOUR AND A HALF. The subject of the call? I am 10000% dead serious:

Once on vacation I had to drive an hour to an FBI field office just to find a secure phone to call into a White House meeting. Pete Hegseth is an amateurish mockery to anyone who ever actually took security seriously and needs to go.

This

Easter family game of "Terraforming Mars: Dice" with @kbowenwriter.bsky.social and @arctick9.bsky.social who now wants to try the OG

I think about this quote a lot.

I'm only three days into Blue Prince and surprised at how much I'm loving it.

Home early enough from work for "Pandemic: On the Brink" by @mattleacock.bsky.social @zmangamesofficial.bsky.social with @kbowenwriter.bsky.social - we've eradicated the Black Plague, but the Yellow Fever virulent strain is threatening Africa and South America.

A film that takes place where you're from

A beautiful, hopeful poem from Jennifer Espinoza.

Last night played 4p Gingkopolis after work at the FLGS with @hokiestone.bsky.social who seemed to be struggling but then beat me by two points, so what's up with THAT?

Day off from work for a family game of D&D

It occurs to me that the administration has laid the groundwork to arrest and ship to foreign prisons any opposition candidate for office, any lawyer that challenges them in court, or for that matter any judge. Their appears to be no effective legal protection against it.
