Happy Sunday! We are in troubled times but I hope your day will be as good as it can be. After a beautiful sunrise yesterday we had mostly colorless clouds today, but at least they were in a dynamic and interesting pattern. Tap for full size. I hope you have a great day!

Given the very disconcerting energy in our world right now, I thought we could use this 30-second clip. At the beach today I was struck by the dancing light on the water’s surface and decided to grab it. The Universe must have known we could use it today. Tap and turn horizontal.

Happy Saturday – and Happy Summer! We had some beautiful pre-sunrise activity today but I thought it would be nice to see the moment the season officially got underway. (You’ll see the other shots during the week.) Tap for full size. I hope you have a great day – and Summer!

For a timeline cleanse, here was my favorite shot of this morning although it came in second place in coffee shop voting. It was 14 minutes before sunrise with beautiful light and color south of where the sun would soon break. Tap for full size. I hope you are having a great day!

Happy Friday, and Happy Spring – for now. At 10:42 PM tonight we officially – and finally – move into Summer. We closed Spring with a calm sunrise with the sun positioned perfectly between the horizon below and the clouds above. Tap for full size. I hope you have a great day!

Happy Thursday and Happy Juneteenth! Today we remember the power of community and the importance of standing together for justice and equality. The sun actually showed up today for the first time in a week with this nice greeting. Tap for full size. I hope you have a great day!

Here is one more timeline cleanse, of 7 Bryant Park last night. A Pei Cobb Freed building designed by Henry Cobb on the southwest corner of 6th and 40th, its hourglass curvature provides beautiful Bryant Park views. It’s a vertical so tap for full size.

It’s interesting what captures your attention. There was nothing particularly notable about this building in Manhattan as dusk was approaching last night, but something about its symmetry and sporadic interior lighting and tree punctuation just drew me to it. Tap for full size.

Happy Wednesday! Yet again we had rain and fog but I have one picture left – this is from last Tuesday night while waiting for the strawberry moon. It’s counterintuitive because I’m looking east while the sun is setting behind me. Tap for full size. I hope you have a great day!

Life is hard; it's harder if you're stupid. John Wayne Tel Aviv Trump #AIPAC Brad Lander Xbox Tim Walz Mike Lindell #Gaza #Genocide Iran #NotOurWar #Netanyahu #StopTheWarMachine #Iran #Israel #USForeignPolicy #NotOurWar #GenocideInGaza #EndEndlessWars #WarProfiteers #NoBlankCheck

Manhattan sits atop some of the oldest and hardest rock formations in North America. So it was logical to see so much amazing rock at this construction site today. I am a little sad that soon this will be invisible with a skyscraper atop it. It’s a vertical so tap for full-size.

Happy Tuesday! Yet again we had a foggy soupy rainy morning, so here is one leftover photo from my recent visit to the Berkshires on the campus of Darrow School of some beautiful fog rising between the trees and mountains. Tap for full size. I hope you have a great day!

As a timeline cleanse, this prickly pear cactus flower looked like it was straight out of a botanical catalog with its perfectly placed raindrops during my walk in town earlier today. Tap for full size. I hope you are having a great day!

Last one, promise! I just learned Brian Wilson recorded this 49 second piano snippet of the all-vocal soundcheck song I shared after he died. This rendition is a haunting performance and you can hear the complexity of the individual parts within it. (Tap and turn horizontal for stereo.)

Happy Monday! It’s a new week! We have rain yet again and I hope that changes because I’m running out of inventory! Here’s another sunset over the bay from last Thursday taken 13 minutes before the one I tweeted yesterday. Tap for full size. I hope you have a great day!

Happy Sunday! We have no kings, and no sun on a 58° (!!!) weekend day in June. Here is last Thursday’s sunset over the bay while I was waiting for the rise of the Strawberry Moon. Tap for full size. I hope you have a great day!

Happy Saturday! It’s No Kings Day! Remember to get out and make your presence known! We had rain today so here’s a picture of downtown Thursday morning where a schooner moored on the outer face of the dock caught my eye. Tap for full size. I hope we all have a productive day!

I think I’m one of the few people who really likes crowded rest areas in the summertime. The energy is vibrant, it’s clearly reminiscent of summertime, and everybody is out and about and in generally a good mood – and no coats are needed! It beats an empty desolate place any day.

Happy Friday! We made it through the week! If I didn’t have timestamps I wouldn’t believe that this beauty lasted precisely two minutes before fading back away into a gray, no-sunrise morning. Tap for full size. I hope you have a great day!

I had a chance to see Randy Rainbow tonight and his performance was beyond description! Combining video, live performance, and stand-up individually and together, it was levels above what you could ever imagine. If you are in Ann Arbor, AC, Westhampton or P-town this month, don’t miss this!

With Brian Wilson’s passing yesterday I totally neglected to mention the anniversary of Sandy Hook Light, the nation’s oldest lighthouse, which began operation under the Colonists on June 11, 1764. Originally lit by 22 whale oil lamps, I see it from my house and never tire of it.

Happy Thursday! We are almost through the week! We had a simple sunrise with some nice eyebrow clouds to add a little visual interest in the sky. Tap for full size. I hope you have a great day!

Here’s a version of Our Prayer I got during a sound check for a NJ Brian Wilson concert in 2015. It was on my iPhone 6 which didn’t have stereo so there’s no urgency to tilt it horizontally, although you will get some beautiful vocal ambience if you do.

It’s not everyone who gets to say they got a phone call from Brian Wilson, but it happened to me and it was one of my favorite calls of my life. Here’s how it started, followed by a song that I know reflects all of our sentiments today. Tap and turn horizontal for stereo. RIP 😢 🎵

Brian Wilson opened most concerts with this short vocal piece called Our Prayer, which he wrote for the Beach Boys. He was so attuned to vocal nuances that he would put all the instruments on one track to leave seven remaining tracks for the vocals! Tap and turn horizontally for stereo.

I was so sad to learn that Brian Wilson has died. I saw him more than 20 times, met and talked with him personally 7 times and even spoke with him on the phone once. Here are two portraits I got of him roughly 20 years apart. His music will always mean the world to me. RIP 😢🎵

Happy Wednesday! We are halfway through the week! We had no real sunrise this morning because of clouds but there was one point where there was just enough breathing room to show the sun with some nice striations. Tap for full size. I hope you have a great day!
