This is from the _book_ "Forrest Gump" by Winston Groom, which I finished recently. The book is written in 1986, and the events described in this scene are happening in the 1970s.

"angertainment" is a new word I learned from @kelseyhightower.com on the @fafo.fm podcast. It's a very precise word!

Developer's excuses: 2000: It's downloading... 2010: It's compiling... 2020: It's training... 2025: I hit my token limit for this hour. Waiting for the next hour to begin... #ai #development #llm

What's the point of being rich if you can't afford to do the right thing.

An old man on his porch whittling all day = quintessential Americana, poignant, evocative of western expansion An old man on his porch scrolling all day = contemptible, unnatural, indicative of societal collapse

My case exactly

Stop saying that one programming language is better than another. It all depends what you want to do. When you want to fight with a borrow checker, use Rust. When you want to guess which esoteric tsconfig some lib requires, try TypeScript. When you feel like yelling at a package manager, do Python.

Another weekend and another hobby project. This time, I explored the Internet of Things (IoT) world and tried to help microcontrollers understand human language. medium.com/@pavelanni/g...

I propose we replace semantic versioning with pride versioning

I created an account for my AI Prose project: @aiprose.org . I'll be posting updates there when I publish a new story. Appreciate you following it.

It's a new feeling: Amazon just sent me a message "We found a great deal for you!" and suggested my own book about #Python! (The title is "A Pythonic Adventure", if you are curious.)

In a world where AI assists students with homework, universities make an unexpected policy change: AI usage becomes mandatory for all assignments. Students must submit their complete AI conversation logs alongside their work... What happened next? Read on AI Prose: aiprose.org/posts/runtim...

Note to self: check all your subscriptions just before Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Most likely, you bought something really cheap a year ago and now it's up for renewal at the full price. Ask me how I know ;-)

Grrr... I'm paying my city tax online, and here is what I see. What? For all the taxes I'm paying you, can't you hire a programmer to parse the string I'm entering??? Why should I _carefully_ insert a space after the first two digits???

Yet another boring upgrade Fedora 40 -> Fedora 41. #fedora #Linux #redhat

Good developers copy. Great developers paste.

Metric or imperial system? Being an immigrant in the US, I am used to both. It was a great mental exercise for me to get used to something new, and I learned a lot about myself during that process. Read the whole story on Medium. https://link.medium.com/dZ2i8JFhULb

This bundle of one of my favorite authors @doctorow is only $18 for 18 books. Even more, by buying it, you support @EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation). You can pay more than $18 (hint-hint). https://www.humblebundle.com/books/cory-doctorow-novel-collection-tor-books-books

A Möbius cat. Which side is his back, and which is his tummy? I'm confused. I think he'll make good company with Schrödinger's cat! 😉 #cat #math

After asking ChatGPT to explain something, I'm doing the opposite now: explaining something to it and asking if my explanation was any good. Read more in my post: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/pavelanni_after-asking-chatgpt-to-explain-things-which-activity-7152473944904650752-3Gup
