To have the Supreme Court lowering the bar for 'reverse discrimination' suits is nothing more than privilege and a straight-up slap in the face! www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

The first measles death in the US in a decade -- the tragic, preventable death of a child whose parents chose not to protect them with vaccination -- should spark an immediate nation-wide campaign to ensure all children are protected against preventable diseases. Anything less is unconscionable.

This news truly breaks my heart. We are calling on HHS to take immediate action. Secretary Kennedy needs to bring back weekly measles tracking from the CDC, rehire the health experts, and roll out a serious vaccine campaign. Our kids' safety is on the line! abcnews.go.com/Health/1st-m...

🧪 As the measles outbreak in West Texas & New Mexico grows to >130, not hard to imagine how much worse this same scenario could be a few years down the road if RFK undermines confidence in & access to vaccines. The signs he will are already adding up. My latest @opinion.bloomberg.com (gift link!):

More than 130 people in west Texas and New Mexico have been sickened by measles. The outbreak started in a county with a vaccination rate around 80%.

Warren: "Our best strategy is to make sure everybody knows exactly what the Republicans are trying to do, and that is they want to give literally trillions of dollars in tax cuts to millionaires and billionaires, and they want to pay for it on the backs of seniors who are living in nursing homes."

Having served as a Moscow correspondent in the early days of Putin's reign, this reminds me of how the Kremlin took over its own press pool and made sure that only compliant journalists were given access.

Lawmakers in several states have introduced resolutions calling for the nation's highest court to overturn "Obergefell vs. Hodges."

So many people need a hug, a forehead kiss, and a haunted mansion with a magical library left to them by a mysterious relative right now

Q: how to 6x DOGE savings ($2.5b)? A: Cut subsidies to Tesla ($15b)

Despite court order, NIH grants remain frozen. Newly awarded grants, grants with fundable scores, & funds for a new budget cycle of a current project are all *FROZEN*🥶 and not being released. US research is being choked to death & is on life support right now www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

This vote was to start the process of the cuts. It WILL come back for a final vote. There are some chances to slow or potentially stop it. Need constant pressure on GOP Focus on GOP swing seats & key committees. Energy & Commerce is where the Medicaid fight will go down. Ways&Means for tax fight.

Tesla's losses on Tuesday were at least partly a reaction to a catastrophic decline in Tesla’s European sales, which fell 50% in January from a year earlier, according to new-car registrations tallied by the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association.

What drives me crazy about the anti-DEI rhetoric is everyone wants to be judged on merit. But you can't be judged on merit if you can't even get in the door because you don't fit some prejudiced definition of who is capable and who isn't

When I worked in UK academia I recall hearing of a Japanese man who was baffled at how Britain had decided to run its universities like firms. “Why? Your universities are excellent and your firms are terrible.”

At #ECR2024, #SiemensHealthineers introduced #MINITOMKids, an educational scanner to prepare children for diagnostic imaging exams. Now, 12 months later, #MINITOMKids is helping reduce fear and anxiety in pediatric patients across the globe. Visit #SiemensHealthineers at #ECR2025 and see how.

UPDATE: The charges against her have been dropped “in the interest of justice” (she bit one of the brownshirts that assaulted her) and the private security firm has lost their license to operate. I hope she sues them into oblivion.

BREAKING: Josh Shapiro just sued Donald Trump and won, unfreezing $2.1 billion in funds the administration tried to freeze. Another win for Democrats in the courts. Don’t let anyone tell you Donald Trump is unstoppable.

This has to be one of the biggest opsec fails I've ever seen in my life. The actual director of the FBI driving around in the most conspicuous vehicle imaginable made even more so by it being neon red.

One of the remarkable things about #NIH is how rigorously its grants, research, and employees are reviewed. NIH science and scientists are held to a high standard by external reviewers — via study sections and councils, or BSC/site visit reviewers. And the reviews have teeth. 🧪

Graduating during the pandemic slowed down my process and is part of why I did two postdocs. Now as a first year faculty, all the federal grants are frozen. I love the work I do but this has all of us questioning how much www.science.org/content/arti...

Just got this passed on to us, about the damage at NIH's home campus -- the largest biomedical research institute in the world. "The articles on cuts and damage assessments are largely grants focused. The grants program is a bit easier to characterize because it’s visible outside the NIH..." 🧪 1/

In critically ill adults with suspected sepsis, antibiotic regimens were safely reduced when guided by measurement of procalcitonin but not by C-reactive protein. ja.ma/3D8YB72 #MedSky

I have decided to cancel my show at The Kennedy Center on May 11, 2025 and move it to The Anthem.

I want to make it clear that no executive order can change federal law and every executive order trump has signed has expressly disclaimed the intent to. The screenshot is from the DEI EO. That’s before you get to courts actually blocking big parts of it. And yet the overcompliance is legion.

The Philadelphia Eagles have rejected White House visit, Again. I love that for them!!! Philly fans SHOULD BE PROUD as hell of their team.

I only rooted for the Philadelphia Eagles to win the Super Bowl because they were the underdog. Now that they're declining the WH trip that comes with winning, I might root for them more...

I think few of us know what is coming down the pike but each of us and our communities would do well to focus on resilience, physical, emotional, and otherwise. Plan on planting a Victory Garden and maybe learning to can. Evaluate your family’s needs and get ahead of future supply chain issues.

I'm looking to see if the cuts & chaos at CDC and NIH have affected any clinical trials or research for drugs for the treatment of cancer, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, or other serious diseases. If you know anything, please contact me at DavidCorn.99 at Signal. Or if you have any other good stories.

Black history happens every day, and the stories from NPR listeners are good examples of that. From becoming the first Black mayor of a town to singing music about change, these stories matter.
