I'm now a podcaster! Part 1 of my interview with the brilliant Lucy Speed and Sally Rogers of The Bill is now available to listen to. Both helped to put this rather nervous first time presenter at ease and I was honoured to get the chance to ask them many questions. A huge thanks to Oliver Crocker.

Retro TV logo 3D print FOR NO REASON. Think I might make a wee wall clock with it. Thanks to @sighdone.bsky.social for the inspiration and and a clutch of other 3D files.

EastEnders turned 40 this week. Time to play some of my favourite British TV soap themes.

Here's the first 5 minutes of another edition of The Bill Obbocast, a new monthly podcast series I'm presenting over on The Bill Podcast Patreon channel. This month, I am speaking to Mark Bennett of Vanguard Comics and Gosport Comic Con talking all about Sgt Bob Cryer soundcloud.com/thebillpodca...

Happy Anniversary to Take The High Road I'm currently working on a book project for the series and have enjoyed interviewing the legends who worked on the series. Hoping to track down more people soon. :)

Those of you who read my books will know all about my obsession with the environment and climate change. For those of you who haven’t, but share my interest, here are two titles you should maybe read.

Earlier on was listening to a long interview with Bill Cotton from 1990, who had just left the BBC, and he said (paraphrasing), ‘The BBC is obsessed with news and current affairs, which is easy. The difficult bits are drama, entertainment, documentaries. News is just reporting what’s happened.’

Remarkable article by Laurence Marks www.theguardian.com/world/2025/f...

Good news that BBC Four are showing the 1974 Omnibus doc about Laurel &Hardy (narrated by Morecambe & Wise) next week. I've only ever seen it on YouTube in terrible quality. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...

youtu.be/Rkk9GQaPfik There's an advert near the start of this that's just one of the most outrageously racist things I've ever seen. I yelled "Jesus Christ" in disbelief.

When Matthew Corbett left The Sooty Show.

This podcast episode we're joined by leading TV historian, publisher, #author and #podcaster, Oliver Crocker, to discuss his definitive history of the iconic BBC television series, #AllCreaturesGreatandSmall... #books #bookrecommendations #classictv #britishtv dec4podcast.com/2025/02/07/o...

Microsoft just put up the price of your subscription without your consent. Mine rose from £79.99 per year to over £100. The extra is because they've strapped their 'AI copilot' in to every program. You can refuse this increase and these features. Instructions below.

A much loved face who starred in many classic television including Man About The House, George and Mildred, Wizadora and Last of the Summer Wine, as well as making memorable guest turns in likes of One Foot in the Grave and The Bill. RIP www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I found these old TV listings in the cupboard from 2 November 1982. To mark ITV’s 70th birthday this year, I try to play them.

Just released over on The Bill Podcast Patreon channel is the first of a 2 part interview with Karl Collins (DC Danny Glaze) and Chris Simmons (DC Mickey Webb). Karl and Chris discuss working together again recently on Chris's upcoming film The Broken Arrow and their memories of working on The Bill.

Into 82: STV loved going around with the ident, as we hear whats coming up this Friday evening.

My latest impulse buy. I’ve only ever seen one episode of The Prisoner but it’s one of those shows I’ve heard many things about. This seems to be long out of print, along with the production book by Andrew Pixley and I’m very much a proponent of physical media, especially in recent years.

The first of a new monthly podcast I'm presenting, The Bill Obbocast, is now available on The Bill Podcast Patreon. The first few minutes are available to listen, but if you sign up for as little as £2.99, you can listen in full along with some more great content over on the Patreon channel.

Proud to announce that I will be presenting a new monthly podcast over on The Bill Podcast Patreon channel where I chat to fellow fans of The Bill about all things Sun Hill. The first edition will be available over on Patreon this coming weekend. #thebill #sunhill www.patreon.com/posts/120455...

This is real. I just turned it off. They track you everywhere, because they can.

My good friend Oliver Crocker, who presents and produces The Bill Podcast, has made a new reaction video for an episode of The Bill to go out publicly. There are so many more on Patreon. We are also working on a new Bill project together as mentioned in this video. www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvKx...

#OnThisDay 2 January 1993 OLD BILL, NEW BEAT - As the top-rated police series #TheBill adds a third episode every week, the Telegraph finds a rare TV team that loves its work.

Happy New Year from Scottish Television and don't forget to watch the new series of Take The High Road in 1987

Last post of 2024. It’s been a very interesting year all told and hopefully there’s some great stuff to come with regards to books and podcasts. See you all on the other side.

Fancy seeing how Southern Television came to the end on its final day of broadcasting #OnThisDay in 1981

Back in 2022 I was the researcher on Ooh the Banter, a deep dive into a century of BBC Scotland comedy - it’s now back on iPlayer. There’s a lot we couldn’t fit in that I hope can be broadcast someday, including some Vital Spark, City Lights and Rikki Fulton gems. www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/epis...

Hope you all had a peaceful Christmas Night. Ending the evening with this lovely STV closedown from 1985, especially with some familiar festive music performed by The Nuptown Keys. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lq_z...

A very Merry Christmas to one and all! :)

Well for #ChristmasEve, there's only one advert that I could play to get you in the mood for Christmas...

UK Christmas No. 2 Singles Countdown #AdventCalender Day 24 – 1999: The Millennium Prayer by Cliff Richard “Look Out! CLIFFFF!” And now we reach the end of this countdown of every Christmas No. 2 UK Single from 1952 to 1999 Pity we have to end on such a strange, yet weirdly fitting "Cliff-note".

UK Christmas No. 2 Singles Countdown #AdventCalender Day 24 – 1998: Chocolate Salty Balls (P.S I Love You) by Chef One more unusual choice of Christmas No. 2. South Park was relatively new at this time and at the height of controversy. Though the show was more crude and more surreal at this time.

UK Christmas No. 2 Singles Countdown #AdventCalender Day 23 – 1997: Teletubbies Say "Eh-Oh" by Teletubbies Oh God. It's easy to forgot how huge these buggers were back in the late 90s. It probably wouldn't surprise you to know that Simon Cowell was involved in the making of this. Next.
