By far the best delivery of a scripted joke by a politician that I have ever seen. Drop the Dead Donkey, "Awards" (TX: 18/3/93)

The only thing you ever need to read about Cummings is the @vizcomic.bsky.social cartoon. Perfect encapsulation of his character and work.

Sometimes I'll just make thumbnail graphics for YouTube videos that don't exist.

THE WEEK AFTER: Flying machines are the new Fleabag.

Funerals should have a bit where they ask the congregation to speak up if there’s any lawful reason why the dead person shouldn’t be buried

Martin Fishback on the Musk salute.

It’s mad how many private school scare stories and anti-trans articles you have to wade through to get to actual news in The Times.

There are around 10k private school kids in Edinburgh. 51 have moved to state schools in January. As I've repeatedly said the effects of VAT on fees are going to be minimal. www.thetimes.com/article/ab42...

'A government spokesperson said: “Current uncertainty about how copyright law applies to AI is holding back the creative industries and AI sector from realising their full potential."' I notice the government are not sugesting the power companies give the AI sector their electricity for free.

New Newcastle Natter podcast up on Spotify and wherever you get your pods. Previewing tonight's game and soft launching @ferguscraig.bsky.social 's hard hitting political podcast, Both Carols. #nufc

Well that was pretty fucking wonderful. #nufc

You boy, is the transfer window open?

oh boy! Labour publishing this kind of horrid AI art while their consultation on generative AI is going on - that really inspires confidence that they'll listen to dissenting voices in the creative industry, doesn't it!

If you’re creating new Popeye work be careful - although the character is now in the public domain, his iconic catchphrase “I’ll fuck anything that moves” won’t enter the public domain till 2032

Nosferatu, feratu Nos!

Very excited to see Death Valley in the @thetimes.com 25 shows to look forward to in 2025.

If your business model doesn’t work without breaking the law, Sam, then you’re not in business. You’re in organized crime. futurism.com/the-byte/ope...

UK creatives who hate AI - read this please! The government is doing an open consultation on copyright and AI, which will inform how it goes about integrating AI (or not) into various plans to 'grow the economy'. You can respond online, please take a look and share this. www.gov.uk/government/c...

He’s got a bloody point you know.

After much consideration, it is with a heavy heart that I am cancelling today’s outdoor badminton tournament.

The notion of AI generated kids books/media in general is so desperately fucking bleak. I mean, obviously everyone deserves authored art made with meaning, but kids especially deserve that. They need it! Giving AI slop to a kid is, imho, absolutely no different from saying "I simply do not care"

Cracking game of football. It had everything; goals, full blooded tackles, crowbarred plugs for a Clarkson’s Farm spin off. The lot. #nufc

You should all pre order this now.

Very excited to be able to tell you that I have written my third novel to be published by Sphere Books. It's called Everyone In My Retirement Home Thinks I Killed Someone and it's out in October 2025.

Nice holy infant you got there. Would be a real shame if someone were to make it…tender and mild

Now it really is beginning to feel a lot like Christmas.

As it's December, please enjoy this haunted Christmas window display I saw that instantly sucked all festive spirit from my soul. Whoever devised this has divorced parents, I've never been so sure about anything. 🎄

Well this is a cracking thread.

It's Friday. It's the shortest amount of time anyone has ever owned a trouser press. youtu.be/tNqn5bKmKNc?...

No matter how many times I see them, the “portraits” of her now-deceased cats my mother-in-law commissioned from an “artist” in Germany are never anything short of breathtaking.

Reminder that Storyville Books in Pontypridd has suffered a great deal of damage this weekend - help this indie bookshop by ordering books using the link below if you can please

A recent photo of the river Exe and some trees in the mist. Sorry, I apologise for posting Exe/tree/mist views on Bluesky.

Thinking again about when we used the Football Manager editor to allow players to get 17th Century illnesses and injuries. Glen Johnson caught the plague.

I’m on the board of this trust. DNMT runs an annual competition for emerging comedy writers, with a cash prize for winners/runnersup. David Nobbs who wrote The Fall & Rise of Reginald Perrin, was a champion of up and coming comedy writers. Please share with writers who may be interested. ✍🏾🎭📺📻🎖️
