True, depending upon who "they" are. Democrats have been fighting to make higher Edu more affordable for the poor & working class for decades. Republicans always block it, OR cut the programs created by Obama, Clinton, Biden, etc. as soon as GOP have the majority. Trump/GOP are doing it again today.

Heads up! The GOP is planning to ram through the SAVE Act next week. You would NOT be able to register to vote with: ➡️Driver’s license ➡️Military ID ➡️Tribal ID You would have to PROVE your citizenship - BUT people who have changed their names would not be allowed to use their birth certificates.
