SecState Rubio claims that no on has died because of USAID cuts and suggested that I had lied in my reporting. So here I show him photos of specific children who have died because of the Trump administration's reckless cancelation of aid: www.nytimes.com/2025/05/31/o...

Two young people were murdered last night outside a Jewish event in DC. My house was attacked in December. My business in June. On the Diag, banners read “Globalize the Intifada.” This isn’t protest. It’s a threat. This is what antisemitism looks like — and it’s escalating.

here’s Sarah Milgrim’s LinkedIn blurb.

"It's time to declare DOGE one of the great failures." ...And I say that as an economist who is deeply committed to government efficiency.

New detail from our story tonight on how Hegseth last month asked for Elon Musk to be read in on more than two dozen special access programs related to China, prompting pushback from DoD ethics lawyers. www.cnn.com/2025/04/22/p...

This is a very useful paragraph from ‪@jasonfurman.bsky.social‬, and one that might explain our current tariff debacle.

The Social Security system is crashing, locking senior citizens out for long stretches nearly every day. And Trump's solution is to lay off 1000 more workers and slash the IT budget by 50%. Start asking if the purpose is to crash our economy and society. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

🚨 We need to talk about DOGE & the IRS This article covers actions that could be more damaging than the tariffs. This hackathon has the very real potential to deliver the personal and financial information of everyone to the dark web. 🧵 www.wired.com/story/doge-h...

Yes, its absurd Trump is golfing while the markets are tanking due to his direct actions. But, also, I’m not sure anyone really thinks, boy, if Trump would just focus on the economy he could right this ship. No. Stay golfing man. Don’t touch anything else.

They’re saying 3 mutually incompatible things about the tariffs: 1) They are long term and will cause onshoring 2) They are long term and will raise revenue (which only happens in absence of onshoring) 3) They are a tactic to get others to lower tariffs (and therefore aren’t long term)

This is the honor and respect that Lithuania’s highest ranking officials and citizens presented American fallen soldiers while their Commander-in-Chief played golf instead.

We are risking plunging the United States into a dark age of entomology next week. USDA programs are facing massive lay-offs next week and the public should be aware of the impact. If you care about food systems, forests, invasive species, this thread is for you. Read Below: 🧪 #entomology #science

🚨 BREAKING: I love this. Gov. Andy Beshear is launching a podcast Tuesday. “In tough times, folks need an escape where they can process and even smile.” @andybeshearpod will bring heart, humor, and real talk—and if it makes you smile, he asks you to donate to a charity. Compassion in action.

This is a video of PBS travel guy Rick Steves at the Edmonds WA Hands Off event, giving a speech which I think is one of the BEST explanations I've seen for the average person of what is going on now and it is 🔥🔥🔥. You are going to want to watch this. youtu.be/86hnPrWozUo?...

Yes, this is exactly the brilliance of the Rick Steves analogy. And he ties it to resistance in other places where the banners read "Solidarity" because we can't just fight for our narrow interest, we have to fight for it all.

This is worth reading.

Nice to know that an administration that claims to be concerned about antisemitism is staffed by people like FBI director Kash Patel and Senior State Department official Darren Beattie who both appeared multiple times on this guy's podcast. www.the-independent.com/news/world/a...

Give Trump the credit he deserves. He has simultaneously delivered the worst economic, foreign, natsec, healthcare, education, justice, climate and government management policies in our history. That's a heckuva golden age you've got going there, mister. www.thedailybeast.com/as-golden-ag...

"Our efforts will lead to an increase in America’s wood independence"

Global economic meltdown? No worries for Trump Inc. The Trump family, with the help of Saudi Arabia-backed LIV Golf at Trump Doral & Trump $1 million-a-head fundraising machine at Mar-a-Lago turned the weekend into a Trump money-making bonanza. SCOOP: DOGE is hosting a “hackathon” in DC next week with the goal of building one “mega API” for accessing all IRS data. Palantir has been brought up as a potential partner. www.wired.com/story/doge-h...

Trump and Republicans can lie about their plan to cut taxes for the rich, but votes don’t lie. We asked them: will you rule out tax cuts for those making over $1 billion? Republicans voted no. So we tried no tax cuts for $1 billion companies like Amazon? No. That says it all.

Democrats spent the entire 2024 campaign raising the alarm about this exact scenario. Wall Street just pretended it would never happen. Now the worst case scenario is here.

“Ordinarily I would say that while tariffs are bad, they don’t cause recessions,” Paul Krugman says on this episode of “The Ezra Klein Show.” “What’s unique about this situation is that the protectionism is unpredictable and unstable. And it’s that uncertainty that is the recessionary force.”

@sarajacobs.house.gov introduced a bill to defund DOGE! This is the strong #CupOfJoe that we need! Not all SHeros wear capes. 🗣️ jolly_good_ginger (IG)

As in my Governing op-ed the major #Medicaid cuts largely shift costs to states so that GOP Congress can falsely claim they aren’t explicitly cutting eligibility/benefits. But the cuts create big budget shortfalls giving states no choice but to make draconian cuts: www.governing.com/magazine/cut...

Sounds super efficient!!
