Fun fact: the braille never changes on ADA compliant signs. They can swap out the vinyl lettering all they want. In the meanwhile, blind folks can't find the bathrooms, or office suites or elevators, etc. Don't make it worse than it already is by being cute.

If someone says, I need $500 to pay my rent. And you give that because they're in need. That's mutual aid. And if you were expecting something back you weren't practiving mutual aid. The survival of the community is the benefit all receive in mutual aid. You don't just look for what you can gain.

I don't believe in Hell, but if I did I would die happy knowing there was a special seating section for anyone currently railing against "the sin of empathy," and every one of those seats is made with hot rusty barbs

A fantastic article about experimental physicist Chien-Shiung Wu and her contributions outside of the Manhattan Project. ⚛️ 🧪 #scicomm pubs.aip.org/physicstoday...

“The unknown was not as scary as being complicit and not speaking up,” Ms. Ortiz said... “I can exist on cornflakes and community at the end of the day if it means that my soul is intact.”

I'm sending my fourth weekly dispatch of how the US media *should* be covering the unprecedented coup by Musk's junta later this morning. Sign up here to get it straight to your inbox: www.doomsdayscenario.co

It's strikingly similar to the white supremacy campaigns in Reconstruction North Carolina, as described by Gregory Downs in Declarations of Independence (p.192), where Black employment in government jobs was framed as prima facie evidence of anti-white discrimination.

Good morning friends. Rest and recharge. Get outside and walk the unretractable earth 🌱

While we're on the grand old topic of fighting kings, here's my series on the many, many ways medieval commoners did so. Peasant revolt was way more frequent and better organized than we're usually told! Tyrants can always be fought! History is important! www.patreon.com/collection/1...

It’s not just Space X. Musk was able to save Tesla because of a loan from the Dept of Energy. Here he is in 2013 filled with gratitude for the federal agency & the taxpayers who saved his business. From reporting by @puck.news. airmail.news/issues/2025-...

In 2015, a study showed that 1.6 million students attended schools that had a cop, but not a counselor. Schools are overly surveilled + overly policed. AI is an extension of this surveillance + policing. On that note, kids: do not ever say anything about your mental health to AI.

This is really worth reading. @adamserwer.bsky.social stitches together so much so clearly: www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

I want to see city halls full of rumpled retired people ready to skeletonize a recalcitrant congressperson in 30 seconds, all across America

Let me take this format for a spin

It occurred to me that firing thousands of highly skilled, highly knowledgeable people, some of whom had access to highly secret information, and now have grievances and an urgent need for money, might be considered a security risk. Like, a big one.

"rescind acceptances" the kind of thing that absolutely destroys trust and reputation for a supposedly world class institution

I wish more people were talking about egg prices as less of a “muh egg prices!” thing and more about the fact that there is an organized egg cartel that is illegally price gouging and almost certainly illegally price fixing and reaping massive, gigantic profits.

Parasociality mostly rightfully gets a bad rap because people are stupid and can't distinguish reality from fantasy. Paradoxically, playing with that boundary is what makes it so fun.

Imagine how many polycules would still be intact if there was a Steven Universe episode about doing the dishes

Since I’ve been getting this a lot - if you feel like supporting me by buying a jersey or something, I would rather you make a donation to Trans Lifeline or The Trevor Project www.thetrevorproject.org

Are you all okay over there

Treat ICE like the fucked-up weirdos they are and don’t engage if they knock on your door

For 38 years, PRAMS has collected critical data on maternal-child health with the goal to reduce infant morbidity and mortality. CDC has officially halted the 2024 PRAMS data collection for the participating 46 states and the future is uncertain.

this essay is convincing and disturbing. opposition to biden has led to some progressives embracing ageism and ableism and we really should not do that. justinebarron.substack.com/p/ken-klippe...

Hey all, I’m in my 2nd week of trying to get a fiber arts drop-in group started at my local library (Egleston Square branch of the BPL). The group runs Fridays 2-4 pm, and I’d really appreciate a share if you’re a fiber artist and/or Bostonian so I can reach people who might be interested. Thanks!

They're shedding their skin. It's normal. The truck under there is way stronger anwyay

another great example along with Wired and Teen Vogue of how real journalism these days can be a lot braver at outlets where no one is trying to get in good with the White House press secretary they’re out here with us, reporting on what’s happening to us all, instead of trying to get inside access

We arguably have an even more storied Nazi problem than punks do but "Nazi classical music fans fuck off" just doesn't roll off the tongue

WOW "Seven western Wisconsin Republican lawmakers did not appear at an event hosted by the Wisconsin Farmers Union in Chippewa Falls Friday as farmers from the area said they were concerned about the effect that President Donald Trump’s first month in office is having on their livelihoods." ⤵️
