Was planning to meet a friend for a walk after dropping the first graders at school but my two year old woke up with a fever. Not to worry! I packed the stroller and we walked the cultural trail in the cool of the morning with a little one along.

Bike to the 500, let's goooooo! url:https://www.wishtv.com/news/bike-to-indianapolis-500-2025/

Tired of sky-high infrastructure costs? Shrink the asphalt, add greenery, and give people more ways to move. It’s cheaper, safer, and your city looks like it cares about people instead of just cars.

I actually would not recommend Indianapolis Bike Party for the average kid, but if your child is already a bike commuter and knows what it means to ride both predictably and responsively, it can be a fun experience to ride with a big group, at least before people get too inebriated. 🧵

I was today years old when @williamhazen.bsky.social taught me there’s a better map app! Transit has a friendly user interface and lots of inclusive options! You can specify your biking and walking speeds so e-bike users can see if bus or pedelec is faster. And they know where new infrastructure is!

Still grinning this morning.

Find mom friends who will let you pop their three-year-old into your cargo bike and roll with your first graders.

Bike the city, bring your kids!

Spring puddle sessions.

Let’s say you need to buy snacks, take them to the soccer game, head home to wrap a gift, then transport it to a birthday party ~three miles away, and pick up dinner, all with three daughters in tow. Do you drive? Today, I got to say NO!

I'm curious what percent of my county has been paved. www.indystar.com/story/opinio...

Thomas Midgley Jr. invented leaded gasoline and pushed for the use in cars to prevent a knocking in the engine. Leaded gasoline was an environmental disaster, as increased lead levels have a huge negative impact on developing children - especially with regards to aggression.

Clare Patterson computed the age of the earth ( ~4.5 billion years) using lead isotopic ratios, but lead contamination was showing up EVERYWHERE. Ice core samples from Greenland and Antarctica revealed a sudden increase in lead levels coinciding with the introduction of tetraethyl lead in gasoline.

@williamhazen.bsky.social can I take you for lunch/drinks and pick your brain on Chicago/southbend transit for an upcoming trip?

Counting on your fingers is hard, going grocery shopping by cargo bike is not.

Could you pull over a van with six kids to enjoy an excavator at work on a quiet riverside trail? I didn’t think so.

"A report from the Institute for Housing Studies at DePaul University released Thursday shows Chicago has lost more than 4,800 two- to four-unit buildings since 2013, representing 11,775 rental and owner-occupied housing units." blockclubchicago.org/2021/05/14/c...

If anyone in the Twin Cities is curious about getting a Bunch bike before potential tariff price increases, my family’s bike is available for test rides via @bunchbike.com ‘s site (click “meet owners near you”). @mplscargobikelibrary.com will have a rental for those who’ve taken our orientation.

Thanks to our website's new search feature, we can show you just how many people talk about biking and their finances! Has biking changed how you spend and save?

When the sirens started going off, we scooped up our sleeping children and trundled them down to the basement, three of us snuggling together in the guest bed and two of the family bedded down in the playroom.

Weekly reminder that it is possible for a family of five to do their grocery shopping by bike. Final count was eight bags: strawberries, grapes, bananas, yogurt, cheese, two loaves of bread, pasta, cereal, burrito fixings, and more!

So THIS intersection where a cyclist was just hit is exactly where the city has chosen for the Eagle Creek Trail to cross Crawfordsville Rd. They could have safely gone under Crawfordsville Rd a few blocks west at the Eagle Creek bridge but neighbors opposed it. bsky.app/profile/paul...

Once I bought a chintzy souvenir that did likewise.

these are our party leaders now, ignore all other opinions

Reading Octavia Butler. . .

I kind of resent that this is “passport Barbie”, flying to the Netherlands to bike because America isn’t a place for biking.

How old are you?

Gentle reminder that the quaint European pedestrian streets filling your Instagram feed were very recently just as fucked up and full of cars as most American ones. But they did something about it.
