I encounter issues with folks on Facebook frequently in my work, and it's a big problem when it comes to illicit human remains sales as well. Good to see this getting more attention!

If you loved the episode, make sure to follow Katie @anthropaulicy.bsky.social and the @atharproject.bsky.social!

Here's a great new pod with @anthropaulicy.bsky.social talking about her work tracking the online trade in looted antiquities with Amr al Azm @atharproject.bsky.social peoplingthepast.com/2025/04/29/p...

🔥 Powerful talk by Katie Paul on the key role of Facebook as facilitator in antiquities, human remains, drug etc. trafficking and war crimes. I especially agree on policies "just window dressing for PR" @peoplingthepast.bsky.social @atharproject.bsky.social @anthropaulicy.bsky.social

"Archaeology is not just about the past. Archaeology is a discipline that lives in the present: it connects people, stimulates curiosity, sparks conversation and brings benefits to everyone involved. " The LOGGIA Project does amazing work connecting archaeology to communities ❤️🙏

I love open access. Between this and the incredible work that UCL puts out in Critical Heritage Studies, there is some great work available on making heritage relevant to society.

Just incase you didn’t catch this on Monday! ☺️

Please share widely! So honoured to have contributed to this amazing volume!

I once was mocked at a public talk on gladiators for asking about women gladiators: let’s stop doing that!

In honor of #InternationalWomensDay, our #ImageOfTheMonth is a marble relief commemorating two female gladiators —Amazon and Achillia. Found in Halicarnassus, this relief was acquired through donation by the British Museum (1847,0424.19) in 1846, but prior provenience is murky.

In today’s #PeoplingBlog Francesco Ripanti discusses breaking barriers to participation in archaeology, the Linking Community Archaeology & Wellbeing in the Mediterranean (LOGGIA) project, and how engagement with cultural heritage can have positive social impacts: peoplingthepast.com/2025/03/07/b...
