I have found that generally when I ask questions in programming communities they tend to get ignored. I don't know if I just write them in a way that's off-putting (such as too much detail) or if there's just too much noise and they just get missed in the crowd. I doubt it's personal at all though.

Sometimes I feel like I haven't done enough, or been productive, or put my mark on something with my life when my brain is being especially unhelpful. But I try to remember that there's no high-score after we die. Life isn't a competition. Sometimes I feel it, sometimes I don't. But that's enough.

I have been watching a creator play a game I was interested in so I had a look at the Steam page for it to check the price and the reviews. Immediately saw someone saying it was designed to be just longer than the Steam refund cutoff. I am sure any game like that would be transparent about that.

Finding art which isn't some cursed math's hallucination is getting harder, but it's even worse when you are looking for niche subjects. Finding sci-fi style dinosaur people or reptile aliens is sometimes tough for a game I run for friends.

I am amused that I am now past the bare basics of vectors in Godot and must now refresh on trigonometry. I remembered the gist but had to go look up my formulas to be able to calculate the X and Y vectors for projectiles being fired at an angle.

It's novel getting to experience the generational divide from the other side as I grow older. This afternoon I went shopping and a few groups of kids were hanging out in various isles. They all made room immediately when I let them know I needed to pass, but it made me think of my own youth.

I'm unsure if wanting to have at least some idea of times for social events is just a personal quirk of mine, or if it's an at least somewhat common ADHD trait. Not that it would change anything to know, but it's nice to be aware of how and why my brain does things so that I can work around it.

I discovered people have taste buds on the the roof of their mouth unpleasantly by accidentally pressing a tablet against it while taking my medication. I can still taste it several minutes later and I'm making unpleasant expressions. 🫤

I was looking at a JRPG series on Wikipedia for something and noticed the mobile games section. It seems like every mobile game made for a licensed franchise only has a lifetime of about 2-4 years. Sometimes you get outliers such as Fate: Grand Order but from what I've seen that's very unusual.

Adjacent game dev thoughts; not that I am anywhere needing to worry about them but credits in video games. They're important and people who worked on a game should be credited. But most people I know skip them.

My game dev explorations continue and I'm making good success with my various iterations of prototyping. I haven't made a complete prototype yet but I improve on it each time I decide I need to start again to experiment with new ideas. It's been a really positive feeling I've needed for a long time.

It's fun when my mother goes to read an AI summary of something, and my brother and I who both work in tech have to immediately chime in and say; "Check a proper news article, you can't trust anything AI generated!"

I think I'm making headway on this knockback effect I want in my shmup prototype. There's been a lot of learning and re-evaluating my approaches in this but that's just part of the process.
