"The carbon tax was the smartest, boldest idea to come out of Canadian governments in decades. Now it is dead, the victim of scaremongering, disinformation and political cowardice" www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/toron...

"nothing could have prepared us for the breadth or intensity of the assault on climate action that Trump has unleashed during his first months back in office." I know it's hard to keep Trump's horrors straight, but in the fullness of history, this is likely to be seen as the worst.

Ezra Levant and his far-right trash outlet Rebel ‘News’ hard at work trying to rescue their paper boy and anti-Canadian KKKonvoy supporter Pierre Poilievre. Right out of the Conservative playbook: no truthful policies, no real solutions, just lie, attack and smear. #NeverPoilievre

This is a test. Not like a test as not the real thing like a fire drill, but the real thing itself: a test as in all of us are being tested, as in "these are times that try men's souls" and everyone's principles. Who will stand up to the coup/constitutional crisis? Who has already surrendered?

In today’s Edmonton Journal 812 words from Cindy Tran (@kcindytran.bsky.social) about the federal emissions cap. Not a word about climate change and the fossil fuel connection. #WhereIsTheWhy? #ClimateCrisis #EndTheSilence

Conversely: Maybe it’s car culture that sucks, and that’s kinda the point.

If you're in favour of killing rather than improving the carbon tax, which is to say you don't give a rat's ass about your children's future, then @PierrePoilievre --Squawk Box Polly--is your candidate. #ClimateCrisis #TaxMyCarbon

In the National Post section of today’s Edmonton Journal 577 words from Christopher Nardi about Poilievre killing the carbon tax. Not a word about the climate change\fossil fuel connection! Not even a mention of climate change #WhereIsTheWhy? #ClimateCrisis #EndTheSilence

There's been a lot to draw everyone's attention lately but I just want to say before it gets memory holed that the carbon tax was good and we are making an incredibly stupid mistake by getting rid of it.

Put a price on externalities and let people adapt their way. It was a flexible economics-savvy solution to pollution. It’s a shame the Conservatives somehow polarized themselves against it (and the Liberals politicized it with an exemption meant to win votes in one region).

I know this first hand. When I was a child, my entire community was branded as spies and sabateurs, justifying our internment inside barbed wire camps for years without due process, trial or charge.

Check out what happens in New York when a CitiBike rider finds a cybertruck in the dedicated bus lane.

What a fantastic essay. Highly recommend.

I bought a Tesla because it was fast like a rocket ship. But now every time I drive it, I feel like a rolling billboard for a man dismantling our government and hurting people. So Tesla, you’re fired! New ride coming soon.

Everything Pierre Poilievre does reminds me of Trump and MAGA. Everything.

Improper licence. Weaponized a vehicle by driving 160km/h on a 50km/h residential street. Ends an innocent man’s life and destroys a family. He will be allowed back behind the wheel of a car in five years. Why do we treat driving as a right? www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews...

Hey, Justin Trudeau. Apparently Donald Trump doesn't read Harpers Magazine.

Stephen Harper's generating a lot of chatter lately. Yeah, that Stephen Harper.

Nice to finally see someone in sports speaking up. The recent hockey tournament with USA v Canada had a whole lot of "we're here to play sports not talk politics" nonsense. Jesse Marsch is the Canadian Men's National Team head coach and a US citizen. www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2Hw...

In Canada, this is worth reading in light of Pierre Poilievre only taking English-languages questions the other day from The Rebel and a few other right-wing pretend media, whom he wants to fund if he is Prime Minister.

What he said.

Elon Musk, the unelected head of “government efficiency,” demanded federal employees report their weekly accomplishments—or risk their jobs. Let’s not ignore what federal scientists actually do. Here’s what they achieved last week (and every week)📤

A thought. No matter how angry you might be about an egregious or noxious piece of public radio programming - you may want to consider the precedent/consequences of inviting cabinet ministers to interfere with such programming decisions. Because some day a future Heritage Minister may well do so.

We kicked holocaust denier Ernst Zündel out of Canada. Why the hell would we let Elon Musk have any claim on Canada? He is a fascist threatening the people of Ukraine. I am proud to be helping drive this asshole from our shores. www.ctvnews.ca/canada/artic...

Lovely walks and enjoyed Quebec City except for the bit where the pedestrian light doesn’t come on, and the driver insisted on driving right up to us crossing the street and getting upset we were in their way. Thanks buddy, I got it. You’re important. Very important. Sorry I slowed you down.

In the National Post section of today's Edmonton Journal Stephen Harper extols the benefits of fossil fuels. Not a word about the climate change connection. #ClimateCrisis nationalpost.com/opinion/step...

So Pierre Poilievre is trying to brand Mark Carney, well regarded as one of the smartest and most ethical economic experts in the world, as “sneaky” in new ads. Seriously. Even if he wasn’t obviously wanting so badly to be Trump with the immature name-calling and such… …it’s just so amateurish.

We need more of this energy in the US right now. Cities telling the feds to come and take it.

Despicable Trump.

Every snowplower's dream.
