A responsible government would sack the entire ABC board and start - maybe this time with some people who have experience in, and passion of, public broadcasting. $1 million wasted on legal fees, former chair leaking against the current MD, and a News/Nine duumvirate about to take control.

100 years ago, "Long Island duck" indicated quality. Then development took most of the farms, leaving one, treasured by chefs. Then bird flu came. A crushing story from @nymag.com about a family having to kill all the birds on the last duck farm on Long Island. www.grubstreet.com/article/bird...

Hard to believe that ABC Radio National Manager Dina Rosendorff lost her job over this nonpolitical act.

The problem is, of course, that a small cohort of people make enormous, often untaxed, profits from oil, gas and coal. These folks and the political leaders who protect their commercial interests, all deny responsibility for climate breakdown, yet their role in delivering all this suffering is clear

CW: unimaginable horror related to suicide and deportation Truly unbearable: an 11 year old took her life after being bullied by classmates threatening to call ICE on her family. www.independent.co.uk/news/world/a...

Machine learning tools are fundamentally perfect for states trying to enact genocide+ethnic cleansing. They spout indiscriminate, meaningless outputs, but have a sheen of trust and authority. If your plan is to massacre teenage girls, Microsoft wants to help you do that. apnews.com/article/isra...

Australia's environment laws are so shonky you can drive a nuclear powered sub through them. 🤔 #AusPol

Never expected expected to see the India-Pakistan split, which led to the deaths of ~2 million people and 70 years of violent conflict, held up as a historical model for anything people should do today.

I wonder if Ita Buttrose would consider Dina Rosendorff -- Manager, ABC Melbourne -- having a frenly yarn about defending Israel with Erin Molan @ Bialik College as 'activism' or merely 'educational'. 🤔

Oops 😬

The Papua New Guinea Courier is in rare form.

Congratulations on reaching the point where crimes against humanity are now inside the Overton window. Well done journalism. You really did your job well. So fearless. Sleep well. (I mean, you have been asleep for decades now so that won't be an issue).

Massive news - another precedent for including the damage caused by the end-use of the products supplied by these projects. Aggressive expansionism in fossil fuel supply = new demand, more emissions and anti-climate lobbying. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

On the "controversy" surrounding Musk's Sieg Heil: “The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.” ― George Orwell, 1984

Absolutely egregious how brazen and violent the suppression of voice is in this fake democracy. They watched over a hundred journalists be massacred and now they’re manhandling those who ask proper question. I bet they’ll reward with cookies the evil mouthpieces like of Tapper, Bash, Blitzer, etc.

A real photo and perfect metaphor heading into 2025.

"Was this half-billion-year-old wrinkled sack with no anus, previously believed to be our earliest ancestor, actually a baby penis worm? " Peter Dutton suddenly makes sense: #AusPol #straya
