In honor of being included on Simon's #energysky list of #energytwitter expats, here is a meme for the Integrated Resource Plan kids

The perfect test bed for Google X's grid planning tool: Chile | Latitude Media #energysky www.latitudemedia.co...

When people claim that rational economics drive real-world energy system evolution, it's worth remembering that some utilities artificially restrict use of low-cost clean options in their planning to bias results in favor of more expensive, dirtier options (often gas) they prefer for other reasons.

Nat gas midstream guys talking about big prospective load inquiries (KMI, ET each talking about 5bcf+). Reference - US is ~90 bcf/d. So +10bcf is a massive number. Quotes in text followed up.

A simple unlock (with a lot of engineering and data science behind it): AI-enabled notifications on US energy regulatory proceedings. Something new from @halcyonai.bsky.social, and now available in public beta #energysky halcyon.eco/blog/get-not...

Whew …. The IRP hearings are gonna be lit #EnergySky heatmap.news/sparks/georg...

I've created a starter pack for Public Ownership of Energy. It's a short list of people right now as this is a topic many dismiss outright so there aren't many of us. Others who have done work aren't on Bluesky yet. I'll also be pulling together all relevant work on this topic into one place.

🧵 How did Texas interconnect ~70% more capacity than any US market btwn 2021-2023? The answer explains, in part, why 25 parties just filed w/ FERC supporting streamlined interconnection service (ERIS), with no clear opposition—signaling a promising area for bipartisan reform. (1/15) #EnergySky

An afternoon of free electricity in Texas, and negative power prices across the west!

If only we had such regulators in Georgia Unfortunately, we have supine, captured commissioners who rubber stamp what the monopoly utility brings before them, IRP after IRP

Utility rate increases are not, in fact, inexorable. Rates can even go down! It takes is a regulator willing to dig into the facts and resist the pressure applied by the utilities' immense political machines. Connecticut residents are lucky to have such a regulator: www.fox61.com/article/news...

I realize I should repost this now that there are like 10X the people that can see it. A good intro to what we are working on at Fervo.

Not even a sophisticated oil and gas guy but just a retrograde shill. China will eat our lunch on clean tech because of the appoinment of idealogues.

After utility groups known for fighting any attempt to improve air or water quality disbanded, new groups quickly took their place. The new groups look... just like the old groups! See if your utility is on the list. My latest for @energyandpolicy.bsky.social energyandpolicy.org/tva-pgen-fig...

The great utility con has been exposed! Rooftop solar in California is a net benefit to all customers and utilities have no right to your home-produced, home-used solar. www.canarymedia.com/articles/sol...

This cost comparison of ICE vehicles vs. EVs on road trips shows that the convenience of Level 3 fast charging can sometimes cost more than gasoline. Charging more slowly or at home remains vastly cheaper than gas, of course, up to $80 per refueling in WA www.washingtonpost.com/climate-envi... 🔌💡

Seconding this post on SERTP shortcomings. Transmission planning, interconnection, strategy in the SERC Southeast area is underperforming to the detriment of clean energy deployment

I could not be more excited to share this new paper co-authored with my former MS student Carys Behnke on the changing geographies of residential rooftop solar in Atlanta and their connections with ongoing processes of gentrification Check it out! 👇 www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
