One moment, they're sitting quietly on my desk in the Chambers; the next, they're a full-out toddler running through the Legislature grounds. Where does the time go? 🥲

Earthquake. Metro Vancouver.

It was an honor to sign the guest book in the home of Anne Frank. I was here as a younger man and thought about her life as a dark chapter of history. Today, I can’t help but think of her story as one of caution. Our world is fragile, and it’s incumbent on us not to break it.

President Zelenskyy has been one of the greatest leaders of our time, guiding Ukraine through the darkest period of its recent history, rising up to Russia’s unwarranted aggression, being an inspiration to the Ukrainian people and ensuring that Ukraine’s voice is heard on the world stage.

I’m working hard to find glimmers (micromoments of joy, peace, and happiness) and I wanted to share one of today’s glimmers. Here is a river otter sunning himself on the banks of the American River.

Even under the harshest conditions, it’s possible to… emerge as something different, but the same, as something just as beautiful as before, but better. — Death Valley Damselfly Exuvia

Cat snuggles are soul medicine. #Caturday

Wow! This is a newspaper article about my grandmother (far left), her sisters, and their lives on a rural farm in Virginia. Everyone called them “the 3 grannies”. I grew up on the family farm next door to them.

New research suggests that material from Alpha Centauri has reached our Solar System, mostly in the form of tiny rocks. The study modeled how particles ejected from Alpha Centauri, which is moving towards us, could travel through space and reach the Oort Cloud. 1/2 👉 arxiv.org/pdf/2502.03224

The #JWST has provided the most detailed view of the Phoenix Galaxy Cluster, revealing how it rapidly forms stars despite its central bh emitting powerful jets. The observations show that the jets don’t fully prevent the cooling of gas, allowing intense star formation. 1/ 👉 arxiv.org/pdf/2502.08619

Scientists detected the most energetic neutrino ever observed, with an estimated energy of about 220 PeV, using the KM3NeT/ARCA detector in the deep sea. This discovery suggests neutrinos of such high energies are produced by extreme cosmic events. 1/ #Science 👉 www.nature.com/articles/s41...

"What would be as sad as to drift aimlessly through space without the slightest of chances to influence neither direction nor the outcome of such a futile flight? You would be like a ship without a sail but what would it matter as no winds blow through the vast void." #SciFiFri

-Doc, would ya like to read the draft for my b-day speech for Reyes? -No Mr. Cadwell. -Fine, then I'll read it for ya! *ahem* 'Whenever something's cactus and cap's earbashing you, you're flat stick with yakka...' -Stop. It is words but words that do not make any sense #SciFiSat

One cool thing about bikes is when you see your friend you can just reach over and give them a hug. Bikes = love. 🧡

Strong rains are moving in to Southern California today and increasing the threat of debris flows, especially in recently burned areas. Be aware, stay alert, and listen to emergency officials. Be prepared to evacuate quickly. youtube.com/shorts/aVRfF...

Today is International Day of Women and Girls in Science and I am lucky to be able to work with a whole lot of superb women. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your journey. 🧪

You know it’s cold when your eyelashes get icicles from a 10 min walk. 🥶

While there’s much praise for the bicycling in Europe, not enough attention is given to bike communities in Latin America. I’ve biked for years in QR, Mexico. I’m deeply inspired by the ingenuity, especially within the indigenous communities. Perhaps its time to refocus our attention from 🇳🇱 to🇨🇴?

We got a message from the university to remove any use of the "DEI", "diversity", "equity", or "inclusion" from all public-facing documents. They said that even "biodiversity" is being flagged by the federal government. We live in the dumbest timeline.

Event planners: Let’s normalize providing info on biking, transit & driving for events (not just driving). Yes, even when the forecast says it’ll be about 0°F/-18°C. Thank you @bikemn.bsky.social !

Of all of Millie's endearing qualities, I think my favorite is her smile.

Morning Moon Slightly out of focus It is me — a poor attempt at a haiku but an honest effort of my being right now

These two pictures are of the same thing – just arranged differently. — The Beehive Cluster (with nearby, nearly Full Moon moonbeams). Six-hundred-ten light years away. A Longhorn Bee ~ Melissodes genus (sleeping in a sunflower). Four inches away. — Both always live in my heart. And you do, too.

-What on... -Oh, something finally made you speechless. Good. I'm joking but honestly, can even you at this point deny technologically advanced aliens? -The relevant question to ask right now should rather be about whether to proceed or quietly walk away. #SciFiSat #sciencefiction #scifiart
