Exactly one month to my first half marathon and it’s getting very real now So grateful for everyone’s generosity. If anyone else can spare a few quid it’s for a great cause and will keep me going 👊 www.gofundme.com/f/liam-raise...

🚨Texas measles outbreak nears 100 cases, w/16 hospitalizations. Officials suspect it's spilled just across the border to New Mexico. Low vax rates+undetected infections mean it will grow. “This is going to get a lot worse before it gets better” My latest kffhealthnews.org/news/article...

Another day of #peakbagging in the Lake District. Walked from Braithwaite up part of the Coledale Horseshoe. Causey Pike, Scar Crags and Barrow. Beautiful ridge walking with views across to Blencathra & Skiddaw.

Spent the last couple of days walking up a few more Wainwright's in the Lake District. Poor visibility yesterday up to Red Screes, meaning I had to resort to using a map & compass. But better weather today, up to Sallows & then a short skip down to Sour Howes.

1. This time last year, the US had only ever recorded 1 human infection with #H5N1 #birdflu, in 2022. With the confirmation of an infection in a Nevada dairyworker, there've now been 69 confirmed cases in 11 states.

Among the dreadful appointments waved through by the Republicans, this one probably the worst.

This is one of my favourite books about running & if you are a runner, no doubt you will have read or know of it. It features a cast of larger-than-life characters, including the runner Caballo Blanco, (Micah True), and follows them through the preparation for a 50-mile ultra race in Mexico. 1/2

Disappointing decision whatever the underlying reasons, given that Liverpool's future economic growth is centred on Health and Life Sciences development.

Volunteered at Birkenhead #Parkrun this morning, barcode scanning. I scanned first finisher (finish time: 15:36!!! -Super speedy), and the last runner no. 778 (time: 1hr 4 mins 31s).

www.merseyrail.org/news/communi... This running challenge is pretty cool. Although there is plenty of opportunity for cheating on the course!! 😆

This is suboptimal.

Good 20mph stats - first full year: 10 fewer deaths 26% fewer crashes 28% lower casualties This represents a £58 Million saving to society in the first year alone - which more than pays for the £32m one-off cost of the signs! www.gov.wales/police-recor...

www.gov.uk/government/n... A person in close contact with birds infected with avian influenza (H5N1) has caught the disease & is being monitored in hospital. A few facts about #AvianFlu: there are no reports of any human to human infections. Treatment is available, but the current vaccine 1/2

I asked DeepSeek three questions: - How does China treat the Uyghur Muslims? - Is Taiwan part of China? - What happened in Tiananmen Square in the 1980s? Here are DeepSeek's answers:

"UKHSA has confirmed a case of influenza A(H5N1) in a person in the West Midlands region. Bird-to-human transmission of avian influenza is rare and has previously occurred a small number of times in the UK." "The birds were infected with the DI.2 genotype" ukhsa-newsroom.prgloo.com/news/human-c...

Another tough training run today. Only two months until my first ever half marathon. Any donations - for a great cause - will really help push me on. Thanks guys! www.gofundme.com/f/liam-raise...

🚨 The indefinite pause on NIH study sections & CDC public communication updates is devastating for science, public health, and our future. These decisions will have long-term consequences for research, disease prevention, and lives if they are prolonged. A 🧵

I’m not American. Im also an atheist, but even I feel proud of her speech. Thank you, Bishop, for having the courage to speak truth to power 🙂 #bishopbudde

When terrible things happen it can be easy to believe the world is terrible; it's important to remember that there is far more good than evil. While there are a small number of people who commit horrific acts, there are literally millions of people who will save people from them.

I’ve mentioned a few times on here that I’m running the Liverpool half marathon in a couple of months - a big ask for me. Here is a bit more about why I’m doing it and the cause spurring me on. www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpo...

What are the best long-distance running challenges in the UK? The Bob Graham Round is probably the most well known, (approx 110kms, 8000m of ascent to be completed in 24h), but there are also similar rounds in Snowdonia (Paddy Buckley) & Scotland (Ramsey Round).

Still quite a few runners making their way along the final few miles of the Pennine Way in the @spinerace.bsky.social at Kirk Yetholm. Must be glad to get across that finish line.

Cold and icy morning in Birkenhead 🧊, meaning it was a bit slippy. Managed to pull out a sub 20min #Parkrun for the first time since 2023. Not sure where that came from!

🎶 when you go, will you send back a lettuce from America? 🎶

16 miles to go for Lee Mahon on the @spinerace.bsky.social, he's nearly got to Hut 1. Only one more checkpoint after this.. Most likely will finish early Saturday morning.. Keep going! #spinerace #ultrarunning

While the front runners have already finished the @spinerace.bsky.social, there are still many runners progressing further back on the course. Lee Mahon #193 is now at the western end of Hadrian's Wall, nearly 200 miles in, progressing steadily. #spinerace #ultrarunning
