Just read an essay by the costume designer of the new Dylan film in the NYT. Numerous, non satirical, uses of the term Mr Dylan. Maybe I'm not grown up, but it just makes me laugh.

"I think we all want ebola prevention," he giggled. Yeah, and TB, HIV and malaria prevention. And lower infant mortality, poverty reduction, increased maternal care, better nutrition, education and a whole heap of other things. Who wouldn't?

“The values of The Post do not need changing. The paper’s duty will remain to its readers and not to the private interests of its owners.” — Jeff Bezos, 8/5/13

BBC reports Ukraine and US agree terms for minerals deal. New York Times & Wapo yet to mention. I know I'm old but I do think things were better before rolling news.

NEW! Fresh episode of UnJustified with Andy McCabe and me. If you haven't listened yet, today would be a great day to start. It's free! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/m...

Definitely this.

On 10 July 2025, two big cricketing rivals meet at an iconic venue 🏏 No, not England vs. India at Lord's. We mean Iceland vs. Ukraine in Warsaw. The match is for Ukrainian humanitarian causes – and to support @icelandcricket.bsky.social's push for ICC membership. Watch this space for updates 🇮🇸🏏🇺🇦

Another fiery exchange from Judge Reyes in the trans military case:

Quote posting doesn't count as interacting, I see.

It would jar less if Badenoch used the good, standard, native British term EDI. Not this inferior foreign import DEI.

Excellent analysis. Great clarity and insight into what is happening.

I'm not sure saying negative reinforcement when you mean punishment is the best way to communicate. (Sorry to be pedantic, but it's a useful term. Until it isn't.)

Extremely promising sign that the army is already rejecting illegal orders.

Most of us have used Global Positioning System (GPS) for navigation & we can thank Gladys West for creating the foundation for GPS. She used her mathematical & programming expertise to invent an accurate model of the Earth. She was inducted into the US Air Force Hall of Fame.

I’ve just finished reading “The Connected Community”, by @cormacrussell.bsky.social and John McKnight after learning a while ago about Asset Based Community Development. Lots of interesting suggestions and ideas in it! Anyone else read it?

Transport is a gendered issue. Great to see our work - showing that in England, women made over a third more bus journeys than men - featured by @unison.org.uk. The severe cuts to bus routes have disproportionately affected women, especially in rural areas. magazine.unison.org.uk/2025/02/11/o...

One of the soundest things Mr Bush has said, both as a general principle and specifically. Also helps explain why he's so much better than the general run of political commentators.

This is good, calm reporting

UK civil society folks, about three years ago there was a sector campaign on a pale green website that aimed to raise the profile of community action. I'm sure it had ~3 excellent videos from community centres/different models. I can see it perfectly in my head. I cannot see its name. Any ideas?

I want to see Labour making videos of bad, greedy, dangerous bosses who mistreat, underpay & endanger their workers… being raided by inspectors, escorted off the premises, shamed by clued up union reps, hauled over the coals in tribunals, having their files seized, named and shamed. (1/2)
