Republicans are running away from Town Hall meetings. House Democrats are leaning into them. #Democracy

This conversation on about the unconstitutionality of Trump’s tariffs w/ Prof. Steven Calabresi & Prof. Samuel Estreicher is excellent. Host Jeffrey Rosen, CEO of the @constitutionctr.bsky.social lets these two sharp legal minds lay it all out. I highly recommend. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/w...

THREE EQUAL BRANCHES OF GOVERNMENT. It’s in our Constitution and at the very heart of our democracy. Article 3 establishes the judicial branch. It’s the job of judges to determine if the actions of the Administration violate our laws. Full. Stop. That’s how our democracy works.

Last week, the federal government pulled funding that was supposed to go to Nevada’s public schools. That funding wasn’t a bonus; it was a promise. And now they’re trying to walk away from it. So I’m taking them to court. Again.

It's important to remember, every day, that the Vice President of the United States is saying, publicly, "we were elected to deport 20 million people, we can't let the law or the constitution get in the way of that, and if you think we should follow the law you're an enemy of America." This is real.

I think the Kilmar Abrego Garcia family should sue Leavitt with defamation. www.c-span.org/clip/white-h...

A Trump ally has told CNN’s parent company that they could avoid future lawsuits from the Trump administration if they make a documentary about Melania Trump or a TV show about Donald Trump Jr., which would involve paying the Trump family large amounts of money.

I put a hold on Ed Martin’s nomination. He’s denied elections. Fired quality public servants. Attempted to chill free speech. Turns out he’s also carrying water for the Kremlin. So wholly unfit to be a U.S. Attorney.

In the American caste system whiteness is at the top of the hierarchy and supremacy is their goal. Maybe now Latinos will get it, you are not their kind of “WHITE”, you are not better than Black people, you are in the same damn position. They hate us all.

This is what we need. This is leadership. They are afraid of our voices. They are afraid of the truth.

America was warned to vote Dem to save democracy from a criminal & wannabe King. With no majorities, they warned it would be tough to fight authoritarianism. This is exactly what Dems meant.

RULE OF LAW MUST BE ADHERED by the Executive Branch!!! The Executive Branch must follow the Constitution, and Courts. Congress needs to check that Executive too. Bring home Kilmar Garcia! He was wrongly sent to an El Salvador prison. This could be You next!

Hogg says he wants to fund primary challenges against Democratic lawmakers who he feels are "out of touch" and not fighting President Trump hard enough. (via @wbur.org)

This was 100% predictable (and predicted). The big firms that capitulated will cave and do whatever Trump wants. He owns them and will humiliate them for the next 3+ years. If you are a lawyer at one of these firms, leave now with your dignity. If you are a law student -- is this what you want?

Here we are.

Have any of the White House reporters even attempted to ask the Trump administration why it keeps saying that Abrego Garcia is in the domestic custody of a foreign sovereign when all evidence suggests that El Salvador is holding him *on behalf of the United States* pursuant to a contract?

I see a lot of people falling into the "this is pointless" trap, and I can only say it so many ways — though I suspect I will have to write something specifically about it on this front — but the bottom line is that we must expect compliance. Anything less is just making noncompliance easier.

Notably, in his media availability in El Salvador, @vanhollen.senate.gov truthfully keeps saying that Abrego Garcia was "illegally abducted" and "disappeared" instead of the more antiseptic, and factually incorrect, "deported."

Please repeat over and over: “Bending to the whims of a bully will not end his cruelty. It will only embolden him. The response to authoritarianism isn’t acquiescence. Bullies respond to one thing, and one thing only: a punch in the face.” —Gov. JB Pritzker

Before the election, I warned that there is no safe haven under authoritarianism. If they can ship Kilmar Abrego Garcia to a foreign prison—accused of no crime, with no trial—they can do it to anyone. Americans of conscience must stand against this now.

I just met with the Vice President of El Salvador as we fight for the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. I’m speaking to the press now with the latest on our efforts. Tune in here:

A reminder that there is no human being in the United States whom it would be legal to disappear to a Salvadoran prison without due process of law.

I think it's pretty simple and very chilling: They don't want to bring Kilmar Abrego Garcia home in large part because they are afraid of what he would say, the story he would tell.

I’M GOING TO KEEP POSTING THIS STORY UNTIL ANDRY IS FREED: Gay Venezuelan makeup artist sent to Salvadoran prison after a disgraced cop's report Andry Hernandez Romero sought shelter in the U.S. because he was persecuted as a gay man, one of the "particular social groups" allowed to claim asylum.

Kidnapping people off the street, flying them to a foreign country and paying to have them locked up in a brutal prison is not just outrageous. It's criminal. Criminal on many levels. Criminal in ways from which it cannot possibly be argued the president has immunity for his behavior.

We should all be very concerned about how the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia plays out. Senator Chris Murphy explains very clearly why:

"In an authoritarian regime, the opposition needs symbols and stories. Kilmar Abrego Garcia is that symbol. His abduction in front of his autistic son and imprisonment in a foreign concentration camp is that story."

If the judge is looking for an attorney to prosecute the Trump administration for contempt of court... 🙋‍♂️

The Trump administration is violating the right to due process

Speaking now from El Salvador, Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) says he was denied access to Kilmar Abrego Garcia by El Salvador leaders. And was denied a phone call to him Van Hollen: "The Trump Administration is lying about Abrego Garcia"

oh ok give me a moment while I look for my shocked face 🙄 oh wait that’s not it 🤮dang where is it 😵‍💫oh wait here it is 😱

This is the kind of thing that, if true, leads to life sentences for treason

Skipped the paperwork. Ignored the court order. Broke the law. Ignored the constitution. This ain’t immigration policy. This is straight-up defiance of the rule of law.
