Yet another, different poster appears on London Underground trains. I don't know who's doing these, but it's genius.

The Occam's razor take on Trump and his people is not that they are tactical or strategic geniuses but that he is simply a weird and stumbling old man and his people are too scared and feeble to gainsay him.

my considered view here is: hahaha hahaaaaaaaahahah haha on.ft.com/4h4ZefF

Also, was unaware of William Rees-Mogg’s influence on this ‘technological coup’ until reading this piece. What harm that family have done to the UK and the world.

This is fascinating and terrifying. A long must-read: “What makes [their] vision dangerous is not just its hostility to democracy—it’s the way it frames the collapse of democratic governance as an inevitability rather than a choice.

"Vance skis in jeans", incredible

That's quite astonishing.

The effects of the House’s proposed “Medicaid cuts to pay for tax cuts” in one graph: a 3.9% boost in income for the top 1% of households and a 7.4% reduction in income for the bottom fifth of households. In two words: class warfare. www.epi.org/blog/the-hou...

BREAKING: In a stunning moment of defiance, Maine's Governor Janet Mills stands up to Trump, saying she is complying with state and federal (anti-discrimination) law, and will see him in court over his threat to withhold federal funds. This is incredible.

New data shows all bad news for England's priority wildlife habitats. ❌big drop in monitoring: Natural England needs funds to keep up ❌fall in favourable management in & outside SSSIs ❌fall in SSSIs in good condition: better incentives & enforcement urgent. 🧵1/3

Quite an exchange here between Judge Reyes and DOJ attorney on how "pronoun usage" affects military readiness.

80th day of the protests in European Georgia. This is Tbilisi tonight. Look at that crowd. 80 days of this. That’s how you resist a Putin-backed coup.

PROTESTING THREAD. I cut my teeth protesting vs. Jean Marie Le Pen in France. The French are *master* protesters. We can learn a lot from them. 1st thing to know: there is no such thing as "too late." We can protest before, during, and *after* a coup. Eastern Europe did it under tyranny. So can we.

So not the US then….? www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

I’m getting really fed up of these abstract attacks on ‘regulation’ - why is Andy Haldane advocating the Doge approach for UK - blanket halving the number of regulators and their budgets? on.ft.com/416pqlx 1/2

‘Defying legal limits’ sure is a neat way of avoiding saying ‘breaking the law’

This is so good.

Guerra comercial just sounds better

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers. This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder. Auschwitz took time.

Israel released 90 hostages in Gaza then took 90 new hostages in the West Bank. This is what Israel does and this is the vile colonial violence it’s founded on, beyond any kind of reform

YES DARWIN

Interesting case on consultation (NB this was a consultation under the previous government). Judgment here. publiclawproject.org.uk/content/uplo...

V much agree with this

Some wonderful feline asides in this from Janan Ganesh, which I think is basically right.

It is a source of endless frustration for me that the fact Reform is a limited company owned by Nigel Farage isn't given more attention. Every time that Reform or Farage are interviewed this should be probed and questioned. They are held to such a lower standard than any other party.

"So concerned were Reform MPs at child abuse, none turned up to the Commons debate"

Pretty sure it's not up to women to "think carefully" about taking a higher-paid job than their partner. It's up to their partner to get the fuck over himself and be pleased for her.

Essential reading.

Think this would be an awful idea for the long term strength and diversity (and fun) of cricket internationally (not just in test format)

Thank you, Highways Agency comms people, for writing this correctly
