Did anyone have Trump identifying with Marty over Biff? Biff seemed like a gimme! The man’s just full of surprises.

say what you will about quebec but they at least have a distinct culture

Good to hear Mannix slagging the IBF. This is ridiculous.

Cricket had been the sport of gentlemen in Halifax during the years following Confederation whereas baseball was popular among the hardscrabble working class. Baseball eventually overtook cricket in popularity among all classes.

Carney can’t touch the GOAT. Tupper FTW.

For me the most remarkable thing about the 2025 General Election is the Conservatives losing this guy’s vote to the Liberals.

Said it in the other place and I’ll say it here: THE most ambitious crossover event in CDN Arts and Letters History

Terrific stuff. Urge everyone to read it.

Thanks John Erik Hmiel and @jacobinmag.bsky.social for the thoughtful article on WFMU and our history: jacobin.com/2025/04/wfmu...

Indenpendant, if you please. In addition to liberating the good people of Central Nova from the corrupt party system, Bandit seeks freedom from your rigid, oppressive orthography, @chalicotherex.bsky.social

you’re killing me here #spellingbee

I wrote this article a few years back. The holdings in StFX Archives are extremely valuable for those interested in the Antigonish Movement. Scores of primary documents in the holdings including CJFX broadcasts, such as farm forums and panel discussions from the 1950s and 1960s. Time well spent!

it continues! Thanks Evan! @wfmu.bsky.social

Tip of the hat to @cbcnews.ca for the decision to broadcast/livestream Thursday evening’s debate among the five confirmed Cape Breton-Canso-Antigonish federal election candidates. Maybe there is value in having a public broadcaster after all.

Enjoying the Blondie marathon currently underway @wfmu.bsky.social

He did it! 895!!!

How it started. How it’s going.

Watching Phillies-Dodgers. Play by Play guy to color man John Kruk: Tom: John, are you going to watch the Final Four games tonight? John: No Tom: No? John: No, Tom. What day is it? Tom: It’s Saturday, John.

“He got both cheeks into that!” — play by play man as Patrick Bailey rips a double into triples alley

the man said repost it without reading it the man said maybe say something like “great writing, Kaleb!” this is the thing have I read it? no did I repost it? yes great writing? no doubt that I can say with confidence I’ll get to it myself sometime soon likely this weekend.

during a long stretch of 1994-1995 I listened to "Happiness" daily often multiple times per day had recorded an episode of Brave New Waves on blank cassette and, as the rest of the songs weren’t the quality of “Happiness”, process involved considerable rewinding and fast-forwarding to get it right

I’ve said it once and, by gar, no doubt I’ll say it again.

It’s been this way for a long time. 30 years ago when I was backpacking in Europe, the only people I encountered sporting a CDN flag were USians, and the only people I encountered sporting a US flag were Israelis.

Holding an election on Ed Balls day!! Is nothing sacred?

Charles Tupper is the current record holder for shortest-serving CDN PM at 68 days. Does Mark Carney have what it takes to break this record?

Worst Lupercal Ever

This is excellent. Much of what I come across concerning CDN politics tends to be either dim, generic F*ck Trudeau laziness or solely focused on fiscal mismanagement (which has been abysmal). This is a deeper analysis of Trudeau's failings. Highly recommended.
