Rest in peace, Roberta Flack 😔

Sadly it's tuberculosis Tuesday in my #genealogy #FamilyTree; plus an 11 year old girl who died from whooping cough, and an 8 year old boy who died from juvenile diabetes. Medical research matters.

The thinner tree was cut down years ago, and the larger one has been supporting and feeding it since then. They "wake up" together in the spring and "go to sleep" together in the autumn. This natural phenomenon is known as inosculation.

Head's up, #Genealogy people. We can now walk into the county clerks office to look up deaths and marriage. That could all go away.

Good morning, Bluesky. Is that a sunrise or are you just happy to see me?

An outbreak of tuberculosis in the Kansas City area has grown into one of the largest ever recorded in the United States, with dozens of active cases of the infectious disease reported, according to health officials reut.rs/3PVLKYp

I had one of those #genealogy days when you find a family wiped out by tuberculosis, small pox, or whooping cough. I still remember individual families after 20+years.

So much for that whole “take care that the laws be faithfully executed” and “support and defend the Constitution of United States.”

Madi Keys!! The match started at 3:30 a.m. I fell asleep late in the second set. What a wonderful surprise this morning 🎾

John Steinbeck’s ‘The Grapes of Wrath’ “keeps generating new meanings” with each generation, says Prof. Bruce Robbins. Its characters are a “symbol of hope in the face of such adversity & such dehumanization,” says author Emily Danforth. #VelshiBannedBookClub #Velshi

Here is an old-timey photo of “Lamb’s Bird Store” in Detroit, Michigan. It is one of several pet stores that was connected to a Lamb family with roots in Detroit as early as 1914. www.psychogenealogist.com/blog/2023/1/... #detroit #history #oldtimey #photo

Good morning, Bluesky. My search for clear sidewalks led me to a vantage point I seldom visit in the morning and I managed to get 2.7 miles in. I'm sympathetic to homeowners who _can't_ shovel, but, man, it's treacherous in spots.

The author says there are 1-2 murders per year; there are a lot of Icelandic detective novels for so few cases. I've read the Detective Erlander books, so trying this trilogy from a new (to me) author, Ragnar Jonasson. #booksky
