“We told y’all.” -A Black American proverb

No I didn’t push it, I just used a very long exposure for the f22. The camera was on a tripod so I’m sure that helped.

Good looking out! I wanted to try out the Cinestill 800T because I read that it’s designed for low light settings. Really interesting feedback, I’ve got to try it out again ✍🏿

Sunsets over Oakland, CA 🌅

Some insane colors at sunset tonight (including a flocking photo bomb by some of Canada's finest)😆 #nature #photography

This was a really good episode. I liked hearing their discussions during the creative process. youtu.be/Qa8ltLbeyvY?...

Golgo 13: The Professional

Mathematician John Conway was born #OTD in 1937. 🧪 He made broad and profound contributions across all of mathematics, but he is maybe best known by the general public for his "game of life" cellular automaton. Conway passed away in 2020, from COVID-19.

Chemist and educator St. Elmo Brady was born #OTD in 1884. He was the first Black American to receive a PhD in Chemistry (University of Illinois, 1916). Brady worked on organic acids, IR spectroscopy, and halogen compounds, and significantly expanded chem programs at four HBCUs. 🧪 (1/n)

This is pretty in line with how I feel on the Michael Vick hire. The program seems to be struggling lately. I think the increased attention and the star quality of Coach Vick will help make the program attractive for the most talented athletes. Hopefully it’ll lead to wins but time will tell.

Last year @thenewsham.bsky.social and @klong.bsky.social found a COVID relief fund meant for struggling arts venues gave $200M+ to rich musicians. We didn't know HOW they spent it—until now. After reviewing thousands of pages of receipts & internal accounting docs, oh boy... 🧵

I wore this tape out in 2011.

Yeah that sampler is GIGANTIC! It takes up half of my table 😂

Shook Ones Part 2 🤔

I go by eras. There was a stretch between 1983 and 1985 pre-sampling. There are the 1986 to 1989 beats when the MPC60, SP-12 & SP-1200 come into prominence then the early ‘90s when the EPS-16, ASR-10 & MPC 3000 emerge. Picking ONE beat from these different eras of production is a fool’s errand.

At the end of the day it’s an app yall

What’s a pic of you that could be an album cover?

Pal of mine keeps putting me on to absolute bangers… unreleased Stanley Turrentine recordings from ‘67, not released until ‘79, and only printed on wax except for a limited 2012 Japanese CD release. Great stuff!

The sound of a Fender Rhodes piano is pure 70's vibes. Love it so much.

I think it’s really interesting that the UK was quicker on the uptake of both PC-based gaming and PC-based MIDI sequencing than us here in the States. There’s gotta be some kind of connection there.
