Overdue for my annual #AGBT haberdashery communique This year I’m sporting this wonderful cap @biomath.bsky.social gifted me last year. There might be a few more around, but if you accidentally mistake another for me - any friend of Charlie’s is an interesting new contact! 🧬🖥️

That peak? The one in 1962/1963? That was when the United States of America spent 2.5% of GDP in federal dollars on SCIENCE. That peak in spending gave us our entire economy as we currently understand it. Composites, integrated circuits, lasers, advanced fabrics, biotech, etc... Time to reinvest.

This is the thing about basic science… You never know where it will lead, and you cannot presuppose what commercial product comes out of it. They don’t tend to award Nobel Prizes for translational science. They award them for basic, often exploratory science.

Hi everyone on Bluesky working in #genomics #NGS. Today is Valentines day. How many of you are more excited about Feb 20th?! Read my new post on Enseqlopedia Roche emerges from the Lazarus pit to take on Illumina enseqlopedia.com/2025/02/roch...

Hello @ukhsa.bsky.social !!! Welcome to Bluesky! ❤️

📌The need for speed: ultra-rapid high-resolution outbreak analysis in a front-line hospital microbiology laboratory |@medrxivpreprint See how hospital labs can analyse outbreaks fast - no on-site #Bioinformatics needed, cutting delays doi.org/10.1101/2025... 🖥️🧬💻 #AcademicSky #MicroSky 🧪🧫🦠

Feeling extremely upset today although I knew it was going to happen. Let’s just hope those of us who are doing good work continue to do it and continue to speak up.

One of the ousted SVPs from Illumina with 2 decades of experience at the company joins Oxford @nanoporetech.com

Excited to be part of this panel once again! I am truly honored to join my genomics idols, Jasmine Plummer, Jessica Nordlund, and Charlie Johnson, as we analyze and discuss the highlights from #AGBT2025 @agbt . Looking forward to an engaging conversation! www.genengnews.com/multimedia/g...

HOW YOUR DONATIONS HAVE BEEN SPENT We have used C BAG funds 2 invest in Oxford Nanopore Tech this enables rapid DNA sequencing & data analysis in real time although still early results look v promising & should enable a full tumour classification in under 2 hrs of sample being taken in surgery

We're building a new tool—search your plasmids by feature, sample name, and more. Plus, favorite the ones you use most. Tracking your work across experiments is about to get a whole lot easier. Stay tuned! 🔍

This week, we established a new Grant Programme to support researchers who are pursuing breakthrough science but may lack all the resources to access Oxford #Nanopore sequencing. Find out more and how you can apply here: register.nanoporetech.com/grants-progr... #AnythingAnyoneAnywhere

happy first birthday to Bluesky, and what a year it's been! with every day, the need for an open network that puts people first becomes increasingly clear. we're glad to be building this with you. after all, the heart of a social network is the people.

Insightful talk from Jonathan Edgeworth from @oxfordnanopore.bsky.social about impacts of moving towards increased pathogen sequencing - what does this mean for lab infrastructure, bioinformatics expertise, finance - how will it impact interventions against #AMR #FFF @bachmanntill.bsky.social

We’ve been doing it for a little while anyway 😉but we thought we should make it official - we are now certified service providers for @nanoporetech.com sequencing For service work contact Genomics Birmingham - lnkd.in/e_nmh2Ki For research and collaboration enquiries - email me!
