Lots of work currently going into taking forward www.yoco.uk proposals for community-led mixed development in York. Good to read in AT about Coin Street Community Builders and the OXO Tower - there's even a video here:- architecturetoday.co.uk/award-entrie...

Three people just came to visit and see our #heatpump It was really satisfying to be able to answer their questions 🙂. Why not visit one near you? www.visitaheatpump.com

@thewaroncars.bsky.social knocked it out of the park with this one.

Just back in York after a trip to Manchester (to see the wonderful Nederlands Dans / Simon McBurney collaboration). Conscious of the completely different scales of the two places, and how people and activity can make a city feel bigger than it actually is.

Read our opinion piece for Construction News: "Passivhaus now accounts for approximately 1% of all new homes under construction...We want to move up from 1% to 10% of all projects by 2035..& at least 50% of the industry to understand the principles behind Passivhaus." www.constructionnews...

The impact of second homes on coastal communities, with economies reliant on tourism, can be devastating. This group of people in Looe, Cornwall, have taken matters into their own hands. They are developing old coastguard cottages into affordable long-term rental accommodation for local people.

Just like the first cuckoo or daffs on York's bar walls, signs of spring are all around including sightings of the Venue 39 York Open Studios 2025 Directory Dispenser in its distinctive yellow livery! Pick up this year's very fine directory and map and plan your future travels.

Things are about to get more participative - @helengraham.bsky.social has just arrived bringing more of YoCo and My Future York with her!

A damp and chilly pedal across #York on the Urban Arrow, returning with York Open Studios 2025 brochures and signage for Venue 39, where in April you'll find my B&W film photographs and the colourful paintings/collage of @singfoodie.bsky.social - come and visit and make my chilly hands worthwhile!

The modern phenomenon of the Haunted Cereal Bowl has bothered me for years but I’ve never been able to express it in a cartoon UNTIL NOW www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...

Between 1946 & 1981 the UK built 5 million council homes. Since 1981 we've built 250,000. The housing crisis is Thatcher's legacy, not a result of migration. @ianbyrnemp.bsky.social "Let us stop demonising those who come to the UK in search of safety security & a better life." youtu.be/FYvuy33_0Yk

When we analysed UK methane emissions, we found the second highest levels of this potent greenhouse gas were in the area around Drax. Yet we're subsidising this as part of tackling climate change? Time to think again about biomass burning? watershedinvestigations.com/home/find-ou...

Over to Leeds with @singfoodie.bsky.social to Aire Street Workshops with a framed version of this fella, for the upcoming Rooted in Yorkshire show, running 15th-24th February. More info at www.ukartspotlight.org/events B&W photography on film 📷 Nikon F4 🎞️ Ilford Delta Pro 400 #believeinfilm

This huge #strawhouse was built directly in the nordic winter. ☔🌨️. Super fast, compared to common climate change type of construction. This is the technology. Embrace the carbon storage, it's late. @ecococon.bsky.social screenshot by @lanefab.com

Predictions of growth from airport expansion are based on faulty forecasts. Airport expansion won't create real economic growth, @alchap.bsky.social told the transport select committee this morning. 1/

Trump has now asked Elon Musk to examine US defence spending. Elon Musk’s companies have multi billion dollar contracts with the Department of Defense and are seeking more. The BBC’s Today Programme just reported the first part, without mentioning the second. Unacceptable

*sighs* A big reason Rishi Sunak crashed so heavily as PM was because he didn't lean into his image, reputation, or strong suits. His natural appeal was to liberal Cameronites in the Home Counties but instead he tried to out-Farage Farage with Rwanda, convincing nobody and alienating everyone

I never thought I’d say this, but here’s a former UK Conservative Chancellor talking sense.

Looking forward to seeing headlines like this regarding a well known high speed rail project in the future too. Our government needs to remember when looking at budgets for rail and cycling infrastructure, value is very different to cost.

Question: will this unambiguous data in any way affect the character, content, or duration of the *next* fight over congestion pricing?

But the Government and OFGEN are going to have to change the spark point between electricity and gas. Cleaner Electricity is currently charged to the consumer at x 4 times per kWh as dirty gas. And the standing charge is double per day.

Something is missing but I know not what B&W photography on film 📷 Nikon F4 🎞️ Ilford Delta Pro 3200 (at 1600) #believeinfilm

This is, by some distance, the most unforgivably stupidest thing the government is doing. An easily sellable proposal, which would actually help Brits, and unlocks meaningful negotiation. Irrational and anti-growth.
