Kelly-Anne Byrne kicks off a new disco club night in Dublin this March nialler9.com/kelly-anne-b...

Everything and anything the opposition parties can do to upset the FF & FG government and TDs is fine with me. The mask slips everytime, so hopefully more and more people see them for what they are: lazy, comfortable, cowardly fools, only interested in clinging to power rather than solving anything.

I would love to cycle in Dublin city centre if it was actually safe and not a constant fight with endless traffic (and if I wasn’t seemingly guaranteed to have my bike stolen every 12 months 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️)

Saw what looked like armed Gardai wrestle someone to the ground on Manor Place earlier. Irish Times is reporting 4 people were stabbed in the area.

Very messy first half from Ireland there. Lots of mistakes and squandered chances. Probably a fair score as things stand at 5-10. #ireveng #6nations

Siri, play “It’s the end of the world as we know it (and I feel fine)” by R.E.M. please

In my ongoing attempt to ignore the negative and promote the positive on here, enjoy a well recorded 45 minutes of Underworld’s set at Sydney Opera House.

In other news, today is Opposite Day. 🤷‍♂️

Cobelvig > Covfefe

Watching the farce of the last few days and weeks in Irish politics, you get the feeling that real change is not far away, but there's no point waiting for the next election - the work has to start now, on the streets and in workplaces and families. Better is possible, but it has to be fought for.

The housing minister has been doing such an amazing job (allowing the market to keep supply artificially low to deliver record high prices). From RTÉ: "A total of 30,330 homes were built in 2024, a decrease of 6.7% on 2023, according to figures from the Central Statistics Office."

Its bark was incredibly beautiful in the late afternoon sun. Not long after, both were gone.

I’m only vaguely abreast of the nonsense going on in the Dáil today but it seems like: 1) Failing upwards in Irish politics *may* actually have its limits 2) The opposition are having a decent day, you know, opposing things 3) Lowry et al getting outmanoeuvred and shafted is a good start 🤷‍♂️😅

In a similar vein to the Stewart Lee piece, Séamas is bang on here too.

Very much agree with Stewart Lee here.

Great performance from Leinster there after a shaky start against Bath. Fun game to watch.

Did an Irish exit from FB and IG earlier. Should probably have let some people know but I figure they’ll find me if they need me. 🤷‍♂️😅 Still have to ditch WhatsApp but have a couple of threads to end there. And thankfully long gone from X already. So for now just here and Pixelfed and the phone!

The Star Wars Skeleton Crew series benefits massively from the audience not having to know anything about Star Wars. It’s a fun Goonies-in-space style adventure with similar levels of mild peril, perfect for sci-fi curious older kids. Sadly, not that many will see it behind the Disney+ paywall.

The Justice section is a mishmash of reactionary garbage. Increase in ASBOs, ban on face coverings, AI policing tools - just a litany of policies that have already failed somewhere else.

It feels like this government is going to be closer in spirit to 1930 than 2030. 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

I had to check if this was true for myself (with no offence to the OP). It is. That’s the straw to break the camel’s back for me when it comes to not only FB but also messanger, IG and WhatsApp. I’ll be off them all shortly. You can read for yourself here: transparency.meta.com/en-gb/polici...

I’ve decided that every time I get an ear worm I’m going to post it here to get rid of it. And potentially infect you too. 🤷‍♂️😅 Today it’s “Joyride” by Ke$ha “Rev my engine 'til you make it purrrr. Keep it kinky, but I come first. Beep beep bitch, I’m outside. Get in loser for the joyride.”

As someone who wanted to see a swing to the left this is really stark and disappointing. Big big losses for Sinn Féin and the Greens, big wins for the right via Ind Irl and Aontú, and FF/FG impervious to the shameful homelessness figures and the housing crisis.

Calling an election for the first day of the after-work Christmas drinks season might just have been a pretty clever bit of stroke politics. 🤔 There seems to have been lower than expected voter turnout, which seems to have helped the incumbent parties.

There are 17 people on my ballot, and I think I can only stomach giving 4 of them any preference. The rest are either current or former FF & FG, openly right wing, or independents with at least one problematic policy.

Pretty much every centre-left party in Europe has tried this pivot, and not only has it not worked, it has played into the hands of the far right. If you're willing to throw migrants under the bus, then you're telling voters you're willing to throw every minority under the bus.

The poor old servers are really struggling with this influx of twexiteers! 🤷‍♂️😅 But glad to see it all the same.

If you only got the chance to ask the different electoral candidates in your area the same single question, what would your question be?
