I would say please come to the evening of cocktails and art I’m hosting at Edinburgh’s Dovecot Gallery, but it’s already sold out!! Can’t wait for an evening exploring one of my favourite groups of artists, along with some stories and delicious drinks…

📣 Cumbernauld Theatre has been removed from Creative Scotland's portfolio of funded organisations, placing the company, its employees and its vital work with the local community at risk. At this critical time, we need our community more than ever: lanternhousearts.org/future-at-risk

Decided to forgo the rugby for some different drama this afternoon! I’ve seen a fair few productions of Macbeth, but this one from @donmarwarehouse.bsky.social has to be up there as one of the best… www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmCv...

Hello Bluesky! Finally joining yourse here, and I thought it would be nice to let you know I'm directing this. Had a first read-through last night and it's given us lots of ideas, looking forward to developing it further!

A cracking day at The Burrell Collection today! First with an Open University tutorial with fellow dissertation students.

Looking forward to this! Two whole days of art lectures!!

Excited to be heading out on the road this year performing another one-man show, and touring from Aberdeen to the Borders! “Uncle Vincent” by Rebekah King Through the words of Vincent van Gogh, his brother, his sister-in-law and nephew, discover the genius that the world almost forgot…

Interior in Strandgade, Sunlight on the Floor 1901 Vilhelm Hammershoi. National Gallery Denmark

Stunning retrospective of Everlyn Nicodemus‘s work at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art just now. I love the chutzpah of her going to the National Museum of Tanzania and demanding they mount an exhibition of her work only six months after she’d started painting!

Settling in for the French Film Festival at my local cinema… 🎞️📽️ (love this place!)

I thoroughly enjoyed this series. Worth seeking out and giving a watch!

Happy 1st of December. Today, a 🧵 of Scottish women worthy of statues. Statues memorialise in a specific way. They honour achievement. First, Jennie Lee, MP and founder of the Open University. The work she did as Arts Minister was transformative. Also = Mrs Aneurin Bevan. /1

Excellent exhibition of work by the late great John Byrne at The Fine Arts Society in Edinburgh just now. It seems like anything he turned his hand to he excelled at, in his own quirky and unique way. Fitting and fun tribute to one of my favourite artists. It’s on til Christmas, catch it if you can!

Just cried my eyes out watching “Blitz”. A beautifully made, but at times tough to watch film. (though from the director of “12 Years a Slave” I wouldn’t expect any less!)

A total masterclass of a performance! On the edge of my seat watching Robert Lloyd Parry perform his one-man show of M.R. James ghost stories tonight. He’s on tour, so catch him if you get the chance. @nunkie.bsky.social

There’s a stonking selection of Old Master drawings on display at the RSA at the moment, from the collection at Chatsworth. Rubens, Rembrandt, Holbein, Durer and many others. But my favourite was this beautiful drawing of a horse by Anthony van Dyck. #OldMasters

Excellent talk from @bendorgrosvenor.bsky.social tonight at Toppings. He even signed my book! #HappyArtGeek

Have you been to the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art for "Women in Revolt" yet? An incredible overview of art and protest, with sadly so much still to fight for. Take a mum or a granny and over a cuppa in the cafe get them to tell you all about what it was like for them to live through it!!

On my way home today I made a stop to say hello to Eduardo Paolozzi's Wealth of Nations, just as the sun was setting on it. My first time seeing him in his new home at the RBS office at Gogarburn. Monumental and beautiful… "Knowledge is wonderful but imagination is even better."

A terrific exhibition from Dovecot in Edinburgh. "Stitched" showcases over 80 pieces spanning 200 years of Scotland's textile heritage. It shines a light on embroidery (some of which is rarely if ever on show) and the incredible women that made them. On until 18th January.

Making friends with Matisse at The Tate… @tate.bsky.social

Wow! Kimono: Kyoto to Catwalk at V&A in Dundee is incredible! World class works of art presented in a stunning exhibition. Jump on a bus or a train and see it!
