Watching #NewOrder Academy from Brotherhood box set. This recording was my first experience of seeing them live after winning the VHS back in 88 from Nottingham Evening Post. Was gutted not to get a runner up T-shirt as we had no video player. Had to take it to my grandparents to watch it. Rock&Roll

Resurrection Sunday. Behold I make all things new. Happy Easter.

Things seem to get a misty when I listen to this rendition of Pictures Of You by #theCure

Holy Saturday. Dead Good.

I hear the sisters have been allowed to stay and are on their way back to the family home. Thanks @nadiawhittomemp.bsky.social for your support for the family.

My good friend Nick Thorley took part in this #GoodFriday meditation on BBC Radio 4 today. You can listen on Sounds here: www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him,and by his wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53:5 #GoodFriday

Thanks @seenunseenmag.bsky.social for a great evening with Marilynne Robinson. She beams with serenity and reason.

Loss number 17 for spurs today From the 2015-16 season until the end of the 2017-18 we had a grand total of 17 losses. Here's to hoping we can manage a few more wins in Europe... COYS

Love records and record stores but don't feel the need to queue for hours to pick up something history has taught me will still be available, at the same price if not cheaper over the next week or so... Except that New order / joy division ceremony 12" 😢

Perspective changes everything. [Ars Mathermatica]

RIP the great Clem Burke (here pictured with Manuel, for some reason). If Martians come and quiz me about the peaks of human achievement, I'll point them in the direction of Clem's drumming on Union City Blue.

Might have to unsubscribe from Amazon prime video for emailing me to suggest I watch Arsenal tomorrow night.

@vftlpodcast.bsky.social With all this talk of defense and attack has the Athletic been added to a top government US WhatsApp group?

....and getting ready for some adventures in self publishing.

Looking forward to speaking at the TEDx Nottingham event at Nottingham University tomorrow. Tickets are available for anyone wanting to hear interesting perspectives on Mind The Gap.

THAT is the strength of English football. A team that wins nothing for 70 years, still supported by massive hordes. Trophies matter, course they do, but, at every level, it's people (their devotion, energy, endurance, memories) that make football clubs great. ✊️✊️ Toon fans.

@pmbradley.bsky.social Hoping Newcastle can do the business in this afternoons in League Cup final, I can't take my dad's tears if they lose.... But the big news is Grey is actually starting in midfield for spurs this afternoon!

Mercury Rev were epic at Rescue Rooms tonight but humble enough to serve on the merch table and meet the fans. Love them more than ever.

Finally reading Kurt Vonnegut's novel Slaughterhouse-Five and realised the title of Tony Wilson's 70s TV show 'So it goes' is taken from this book.

@simonmayo.bsky.social More reasons to love Bong Joon-ho COYS

Spurs are putting out a strong line up against AZ Alkmaar tonight. Hoping they manage to show the To Dare Is To Do spirit that seems lacking in previous crunch matches. Still hoping! COYS

Monday night Doves at Rock City Saturday night Mercury Rev at the Rescue rooms. That's a mighty fine way to book end your week with gigs in Nottingham. Doves were triumphant. Can't wait for Mercury Rev. Born Horses was one of my albums of 24

Random Record Reach. Jellybean Wotupski One of those rare moments when you're searching through a terrible box of records in a second hand clothes store and find an elusive gem you've been hunting for for years... At a bargain price.

Did you know Nintendo was founded in 1889? Apparently they made handmade Hanafuda playing cards, which were popular with the criminal underworld. They should have called them Mario Cards.

If you want a reminder of Gene Hackman's brilliance watch Mississippi Burning.

Im selling my vintage Star wars collection. 8 year old me would be devastated at this betrayal.... And shocked what his £1.24 investment in Amanaman is currently making. Kind of hoping no wants Han Solo in his Hoth gear, he was my favourite!

I asked my son, born in 2011, if he knew what a fax machine was (one featured in a film we were watching). Yes, he told me, he knew what it was. Later, when I made a statement he didn't think was true he suggested I get a Facts machine to check my facts.
