I despise all the right people.

🎵AND I..... HATE YOU! AND I...... SAY SCREW YOU! AND I..... CAN'T WAIT TO GET TO YOU🎵

I loaded up my kid's MP3 player with classic music, and now I hear her singing, in character as her pretend play friend Princess Peach, "War! What is it good for?!"

I once again find myself at the mercy of an unreliable mail-order pharmacy, an unreliable post office, and the absurd necessity to sign for a controlled substance that is absolutely harmless. Stress level rising.

LADY WITH A SWORD is pretty damn good. More emotional drama than I'm accustomed to in a Shaw Bros film, especially in the standoff between Lady and the parents of the fucker she's contemplating killing.

My kid's autistic obsession is logos, so here are her current favorites, presented by her favorite Aardman Animation character, Lula. Can you guess them all? Answers in the alt text.

MURDER BY CONTRACT (1958) is a fuckin' hoot. I loved assassin Vince Edwards (he's our noir-era Mark Ruffalo) and all his weird demands and mannerisms as he gears up for a difficult assignment. Scorsese loves this one, an influence on TAXI DRIVER.

AMERICAN MADNESS - Frank Capra made a pretty exciting commentary on the instability of America's financial institutions. In this case, it's pre-FDIC-insured banks, but you could apply a lot of it to the modern stock market.

Even Dunkin' says to get out before it's too late.

THE ORDER is fairly ordinary, but people are right about Jude Law channeling Gene Hackman. Cool performance.

My new autism acceptance shirt. Screw anyone who tries to weaponize autism for political BS.

LONELY ARE THE BRAVE is a great entry in the sub-genre of "man who no longer fits within the system" (see also COOL HAND LUKE, FIRST BLOOD, and CUCKOO'S NEST). Kirk Douglas is the last cowboy in America who resists authority and knows no borders.

That time my dog got pissed because my kid invaded her personal space.

HOUSE BY THE RIVER is another overlooked Fritz Lang noir gem that enjoys wallowing in its premise. A horny author assaults and strangles his housemaid and then proceeds to cover it up. It's both horrifying and entertaining.
