Brilliant but devastating editorial in the Financial Times. “In the past 10 days, he [Trump] has all but incinerated 80 years of postwar American leadership. If you are not at the table, you are on the menu. America has turned.”

A month ago, the idea that the new German chancellor would talk about "independence from the US" would have been unbelievable

PHILLY SUBURBS: “Rage over unelected billionaire Elon Musk sends protesters to Tesla showrooms as America wakes up to the reality of our oligarchy” @inquirer.com $TSLA @willbunch.bsky.social www.inquirer.com/opinion/comm...

A top Trump official is claiming Russia “was provoked” into invading Ukraine, repeating talking points used by President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

There is nothing cooler than preventing a democracy from turning into a dictatorship

It took ten years, but the NYT finally got there

CNN plays a clip of Russian state TV praising Trump for being "in total alignment" with Putin

“We fired all the guards at the bank so they’re not roadblocks to anything that happens.”

Dear Dems. This is a reminder that Donald Trump rescinded the ethics rules preventing gifts to executive branch employees. Now would be a good time to propose legislation formalizing the prevention into a law Time to do things that make him react to you. apnews.com/article/trum...

Trump didn't just fire the four-star generals. He's also removing the JAGs for the Army, Navy and Air Force — critical positions that ensure enforcement of military justice. www.reuters.com/world/us/tru...

But why? It’s a mystery!

At what point do leaders in the GOP band together (since they seem to lack courage individually) & say enough is enough? The party of Reagan becomes the tool of Putin if they don’t, especially after last night.

Savings are easy when you don't take any responsibility for the consequences.

Idiocracy was a documentary

I'm dumb. I can't figure out how to end world hunger. But I do promise that I will continue to change healthcare in this country and make it more affordable, possibly setting a path towards Universal Healthcare.

Depressing brilliance from my pal Ruben Bolling.

If you support this, you’re an awful human being

The governor of Maine is a 77-year-old in the middle of her second term in office and therefore ineligible to run for a third. But King Trump here tries to intimidate her by saying she'll have no future career in politics if she dares to stand up to him. I think she's all good, man.

A defining policy battle is about to come to a head in this country. The Republican budget will force everyone - especially Congress and the White House - to make plain whether they are prepared to harm the rest of us in order to fund tax cuts for the wealthiest.

Trump pardoned the sentence of arguably the single biggest drug trafficker in American history on his second day in office!

I’m telling you @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social, please watch this. This is the energy. Not egg prices and book tours and strongly worded letters. It’s time to take the gloves off.

Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

Laid-off IRS employee said he had voted for Trump: "I thought that someone with his business acumen would have come in with a fine-tooth comb and actually found it instead of coming in with a wrecking ball and destroying people’s lives for no reason." www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/p...

Thanks for this @SykesCharlie.bsky.social. And fuck all these GOP congresspeople who are “privately” panicking over what Musk & Trump are doing. It’s always PRIVATELY with them. They’ve told me PRIVATELY for years they’re sick of Trump. Fuck their PRIVATE anguish. They’re all cowards.

“We are facing our biggest crisis since 1939 and our self inflicted damage from Brexit is going to make it harder for us to rise to the challenge. We’re going to need to co-operate closely with our European partners if we are to get through this and stop Putin's aggression.”

I was talking to a buddy yesterday, and the conversation was pretty revealing. The guy runs one of the biggest auto service shops in eastern PA. He was thrilled to get the job in mid-2024 (Biden economy), and I asked him how business was going. 1/7

Donald Trump’s greatest legacy is the destruction of truth.

Republican Senators who voted for RFK Jr. have the best healthcare in the world, paid for by you. They don’t care about what’s going to happen to your kids, your parents, or you.

Reminder that a month ago Politico did a puffy soft focus interview with Steve Bannon, who today literally threw up a Nazi salute at CPAC. Inexcusably terrible editorial judgment at the time and looks even worse now.

Well this isn’t ominous

Carville to Hannity: I will tell you this: More deficit has accumulated on a Donald Trump than other any other president in history… Your viewers and I’m reading another view so one of us is wrong. You got fact checkers at Fox?

Mark my words—He is going to try to shut down mail-in voting. When he does, we will sue and we will win. www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

Watch this clip, folks 👇 Does Bannon sound like he's joking about Trump becoming dictator for life? Because he isn't.

AXIOS: “.. The Fed will be reluctant to cut interest rates again if the higher inflation expectations look to become more widespread and entrenched.” @axios.com www.axios.com/newsletters/...

When he is gone there will dancing in the streets the world over.

Mass layoffs of IRS agents who catch tax evaders. Once more, Elon Musk's very sincere crusade to cut "waste and fraud" out of the federal government just so happens to weaken government power over billionaires like him. What an incredible string of coincidences we've had here.

This is a very good and sobering story that urges Europeans in particular that they cannot trust America now and need to make changes for themselves—and especially Ukraine. @anneapplebaum.bsky.social
