"Punctuated equilibrium dynamics" "Self-organized criticality" call it what you want, but witnessing it play out in geopolitics is both fascinating and terrifying. I wonder what is left, once we enter the next phase-shift towards relative stability again.

Xi, Putin, Trump ... Musk, Thiel, Andreessen ... Orban, Weidel ... etc. They all think that an authoritarian consolidation of power is necessary for the current geopolitical re-alignment. They all think that they can use each other in pursuit of their own goals. This ain't going to end well.
