A translated Ukrainian poem a day! This poem of Vasyl Symonenko's is significant, close to many hearts in 🇺🇦. It helps you see distinct values, opposing russia's - that individual humans matter. Vasyl defied the iron-fisted Soviet rule that only the state mattered, despite all cost and dangers.

I'm working on a new Ukraine sampler - a smaller one, all in blues and yellows. I'm loving it. Alongside cross stitch I'm using a "Blackwork" technique much loved by the Tudors, to create small pictures and geometric patterns. It seems to fit well into a Ukrainian sampler!

the 1000th day of the russian invasion is grim in my hometown in sumy region. last night russia attacked a residential building, killing 10 people, including an 8-year-old child. some of the victims are displaced ukrainians who fled border villages of sumy region where things are even more dire
