Last day of Parentalia. A Roman mosaic found in Pompeii. In Roman city of Baetulo, ‘SIT TIBI TERRA LEVIS’ is read on many of the tombstones in Latin that translates as “let the earth be light to you.” #folklore #tradition

In East Slavic lore, cornflowers are associated with rusalkas. In summer, when these flowers are in bloom, rusalkas can be seen dancing in the fields. So if you see a lady with a cornflower crown on her head – run. And in case you forgot: rusalkas are dead girls. #folkyfriday #dailyspooklore

I’ve been watching some of the classic anime that passed me by in my younger years and holy moly why is every theme song absolutely awful.

Surprisingly, I’ve never watched #TwinPeaks but Lynch’s death spurred us to watch the full run. There’s a lot to be said, not all of it positive, but I do love how #Lynch manages to make everything on the screen seem significant, even if only obscurely so. Twin Peaks (David Lynch, 1990-2017)

Today marks my Dad’s 75th birthday. Here is with, bafflingly, a young Boris Johnson.

The final few copies of Handheld Press’ books are available through Postscript at a huge discount, and that includes a number of their excellent weird collections. Grab a couple if you haven’t already. Link 👇

This is how we will be remembered. I didn’t tag a location or add hashtags to my life so the algorithm thinks I did nothing. Bleak.

If AI does the work better and cheaper, why don’t we replace billionaires with AI?

In 2005 I visited Auschwitz and I still think of the palpable feeling of horror and despair that rose from the ground like cold fog. This is the wall where political prisoners were summarily executed before they could organise their fellow prisoners. #HolocaustMemorialDay

Mike Ashley’s Queens of the Abyss is one of my favourite Tales of the Weird collections so I was really pleased to see that the latest edition, Weird Sisters, is more stories from often-overlooked women writers. @BL_Publishing #weird #horror #fiction

Remember that no matter your troubles you live on a rock hurtling through space that somehow gave rise to the precise conditions which created ‘Take My Breath Away’ by Berlin. youtu.be/Bx51eegLTY8
