Newcastle United's owner has a journalist executed for reporting on the dictator's family's corruption. Howay the lads. cpj.org/2025/06/saud...

Saudi Arabia has executed journalist Turki Al-Jasser after seven years behind bars. He was arrested for his posts on Twitter exposing the corruption within the Saudi regime. apnews.com/article/saud...

The Dallas Express, which sued me (and lost) for calling it right wing propaganda, published an article suggesting in the form of a question that the assassination of Democratic elected officials in Minnesota could be "Democrats kill[ing] their own so they could turn around and blame Republicans?"

Hi everyone I was denied entry, detained, and deported from the USA over the last 48 hours because of my reporting on the Columbia student protests I arrived back in Melbourne hours ago and had my phone handed back to me upon landing

I just watched an orangutan tie a knot. You should see it too.

#Pratchett people - I’m looking for the original source of an alleged quote by Pratchett where he said ‘American Gods is the book he wished he’d written’. I’ve seen it repeated, but cannot find where it came from. No discussions about Gaiman please, my interest is solely academic and text-related.

The Narta Lagoon on Albania‘s Vjosa River Delta, where I traveled last month for the NYT. The Narta is a vital stopover for 1,000s of migratory birds, yet an airport is being built there, a luxury resort is being planned there. Until recently, it was a protected area, prized for its biodiversity.

I didn't see this already, so I went through my follow list and made a Starter Pack for Women+ in geo & EO - very broadly. I'm reminded how lopsided the gender divide is still in our field when I get 1 woman follower for every 10 men. It's particularly noticeable right now. go.bsky.app/Ay1iTTe

Trump promising after today's political shootings in Minnesota that "horrific violence will not be tolerated in the United States of America." ...and not pardoned like the horrific violence of January 6th?

Being uninvited from the White House caused Rand Paul to lose a lot of the respect he had for Donald Trump that Trump’s two impeachments, insurrection, four criminal indictments, criminal conviction, and sexual abuse damages verdict did not cause him to lose. Got it.

Remarkable claim from the BBC: "The general hum of the canteen was pierced by the sound of approaching jet engines - and then the room exploded."

OpSec situation normal-for-MAGA "close to an hour before Israel unleashed its firepower on Iran, the US ambassador in Jerusalem, Mike Huckabee, sent out a rather revealing X post:" [1/2]

If the bomb drops baby I wanna be the last to know

Interesting claim here: "The rights in this image are usually held by the person(s) commissioning the original photograph. " Unusual for a pro studio. I wonder what the basis for saying that is?

@wikimediaaotearoa.bsky.social Maybe you know someone who could help with this NZ topic? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikiped...

Denmark’s Ministry of Digital Government is phasing out its use of Microsoft Office.. to switch to open source alternatives like LibreOffice instead. Why? Because relying too heavily on a US tech giant for your nation’s digital infrastructure is starting to feel a bit... well, risky.

OMG, my Pink Floyd and Wikipedia interests (articles notwithstanding) finally intersect!

Among the many good reasons to visit the Henry Moore centre is that you keep thinking you've walked into a forgotten Pink Floyd album cover

Does your organization believe that cultural heritage forms the foundation of humanity? 🙋 We do too! Would you support our mission to provide open access to cultural heritage for people worldwide?

Forget literally everything I’ve ever said, it has all been worth it. This is amazing.

Do other deodorants also have a special day in their honour?

Really enjoyed working on this great project! The Kew Record Book is now freely available online. It's a unique document in the history of botany and horticulture, recording incoming and out going plants at Kew Gardens 1793-1809. blog.biodiversitylibrary.org/2023/05/trav...

In all of the many comments, I haven't seen a single user supporting this proposal.

Such a delicious take-down

The Declaration of Independence specifies 27 grievances with King George III, and I count at least 15 of them that Donald Trump has also committed in whole or in part. Particularly notable right now: "He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures."
