THE i PAPER: Winter fuel U-turn gets warm welcome - but Labour MPs warn Reeves: don't make same mistake on disability benefits #TomorrowsPapersToday

I ran an experiment, simultaneously posting articles on Bluesky and X, and then testing to see how many people actually clicked and read them. The numbers on Bluesky are higher, both because the X algorithm downranks journalism, and because Bluesky attracts readers, not just shitposters.

BREAKING Rachel Reeves annouces full details of restoration of winter fuel allowance to all pensioners with an income less than £35k. Those on higher incomes will have it clawed back through tax system. www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

🇪🇺 🇬🇧 Best for Britain Policy Director, Tom Brufatto: "These schemes allow young people to gain new skills for a limited period, by being economically productive and immersing themselves in a different culture."

Of course Zia rejoined after we recorded but don’t let that put you off! Well worth your time 🎧👇

"Labour dodged a bullet. And in that part of Scotland in particular, once upon a time, not too long ago, if Farage and Tice walked into a pub and started spouting, you'd have to say that they'd exit through the window." @mrkennycampbell.bsky.social

Always a lovely Sunday listen 🤩👇

Underrated post

Blimey, Reform haven't hung about in removing Zia Yusuf from any involvement in the party

"Certainly, taking your kid into work with the paedo-friendly rapist for whom you bought an election, and only calling him out on this when your EV subsidy is cut, hints more at Weinstein than Einstein."

Getting ready for our trip down memory lane this evening

Another one bites the dust www.bbc.com/news/article...

‘Let’s forget the culture war over Europe and embrace Harold Wilson’s spirit of 1975’ Former Home Secretary Alan Johnson has written in the Observer about the moment facing us, and the spirit we need to move forward together.

Liberalism: the one system of thought which doesn't try to bullshit you. The one political belief which does not pretend that everything's going to be ok.

Today marks 50 years since the 1975 referendum to stay in the EEC. We must recapture the spirit of that campaign now and push for the removal of trade barriers, for deeper peace & security ties, and for the ability of young people to travel freely across our shared continent.

Free school meals to be extended to 500,000 more children in England, learning from Wales where there are universal free school meals in primary schools. Wales will get matching funding - which could be used to further extend free school meals www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Tomorrow marks the 50th anniversary of the 1975 referendum where we embraced Europe. Superb piece by Alan Johnson who remembers it well 👇https://observer.co.uk/news/opinion-and-ideas/article/lets-forget-the-culture-war-over-europe-and-embrace-harold-wilsons-spirit-of-1975

“The media’s orientation towards the Labour government is that nothing it can possibly do will be enough and anything it suggests will be too expensive.”  🎧👇

Special assignment for me: a night out in Blackpool in Britain's first Reform Pub. The owner told us he'd now vote Remain, if he knew then what he knows now. The story though was the same as everywhere: the most profound rejection of politics itself. youtu.be/4sUKHr9KauA?...

Currently awaiting an Executive Order confirming the increase of steel and aluminium tariffs from 25% to 50%. Also, hoping to hear more details about the UK-US deal which was meant to reduce these tariffs for UK products but has not yet materialised. /1

I'll be back on @quietriotpod.bsky.social on Sunday but am not on the main show this week because of a diary clash I just couldn't reconcile. We have a fab guest, a superb stand in for me, and it'll be a great show I'm sure. Can't wait to listen and see you Sunday! x

"Old fashioned print media is in decline everywhere but in the mind of the nation’s political class. The result is that our leaders are getting a very warped sense of what the average voter thinks, reads and cares about."

The UK just got screwed by Donald Trump. Keir Starmer *did* get a reduction to zero on steel tariffs, when Trump had his steel tariffs set at 25%. But now they’re up to 50…he says we have to pay 25%. So despite making all sorts of concessions to the US, we’re back where we started.

On World Bicycle Day, we pedal towards a greener Europe! 🚲 Last year, Parliament, alongside the Commission and the Council, adopted the European Declaration on Cycling. This will help the EU to meet its emission and climate neutrality goals. 🔗 Learn more: europa.eu/!QnQ6nn

🚨You need to watch this. Star meteorologist John Morales uses his platform to call out US government attacks on science, and explains why it is directly endangering lives.

Open race-baiting by Nigel Farage here as he falsely claims that Anas Sarwar made a speech saying the South Asian community are "going to take over the country and take over the world". He made no such speech

Reform continues to run the ad that the SNP and Labour called "blatantly racist" ahead of the Hamilton by-election this week. Biggest digital ad by a UK party since last year's election.

In this Saturday’s Times I interview Gary Lubner, Labour’s biggest donor, about politics, philanthropy, and the PM www.thetimes.com/article/6cda...

Ukraine used $47,000 in drones to inflict $7,000,000,000 of damage. War changed today. Forever.
