Padilla: "If this is how Homeland Security responds to a senator with a question, you can only imagine what they are doing to farm workers, cooks, day-labourers out in the Los Angeles community, throughout California, and throughout the country."

Powerful statement by Sen. Alex Padilla. Please notice that anytime senators or representatives try to conduct oversight, they’re blocked. In this case, a sitting US senator was tackled to the ground and handcuffed—for asking a question. Where the hell has Chuck Schumer been on this?

UK GDP shrank by 0.3% in April because of Trump tariffs. We are in row one. US hit with no offset from EU alignment. We need to be in row 5, ideally 4, but let’s be real about Trump. UK EU alignment on goods & services shields us both from Trump AND delivers strong economic growth

Another fantastic episode @pimlicat.bsky.social @sturdyalex.bsky.social and what a thoroughly decent and level headed guy James McCleary appears to be. And I have to put up with Helen Wheteley as an MP..

This was the moral core of Starmer that we outlined in our Origin Story episode on him. I have to say that it's very hard to square with the language on immigration and the policy on trans people. podcasts.apple.com/tt/podcast/k...

🔥Daisy Cooper quotes Best for Britain's research in her response to Rachel Reeves. 📊 A deeper relationship with the EU will deliver 2.2% growth according to our research, equivalent to £25 billion per year in extra tax revenue. 🇪🇺 Want growth? Cut trade barriers with the EU.

🇬🇧🇪🇸Tom Brufatto, Director of Policy and Research: “We can be optimistic that this agreement removes an obstacle to greater EU-UK cooperation in other areas which can bring prices down for UK consumers and restore opportunities back to British citizens.” www.bestforbritain.org/gibraltar_ag...

We know from our analysis of Frontier Economics' work that the biggest growth boost for the Midlands and North comes from breaking down technical barriers to trade with the EU. #spendingreview

The money for social homes is incredibly welcome. We mustn't let artificial barriers with the EU thwart their building.

Something leaflet delivery volunteers of ALL parties can get behind: Labour MP Anneliese Midgley has the first reading of her 10-minute rule bill on low-level letter boxes, which aims to ban those below a certain height in new housing developments.

THE i PAPER: Winter fuel U-turn gets warm welcome - but Labour MPs warn Reeves: don't make same mistake on disability benefits #TomorrowsPapersToday

I ran an experiment, simultaneously posting articles on Bluesky and X, and then testing to see how many people actually clicked and read them. The numbers on Bluesky are higher, both because the X algorithm downranks journalism, and because Bluesky attracts readers, not just shitposters.

BREAKING Rachel Reeves annouces full details of restoration of winter fuel allowance to all pensioners with an income less than £35k. Those on higher incomes will have it clawed back through tax system. www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

"Labour dodged a bullet. And in that part of Scotland in particular, once upon a time, not too long ago, if Farage and Tice walked into a pub and started spouting, you'd have to say that they'd exit through the window." @mrkennycampbell.bsky.social

Always a lovely Sunday listen 🤩👇

Blimey, Reform haven't hung about in removing Zia Yusuf from any involvement in the party

"Certainly, taking your kid into work with the paedo-friendly rapist for whom you bought an election, and only calling him out on this when your EV subsidy is cut, hints more at Weinstein than Einstein."

Getting ready for our trip down memory lane this evening

Another one bites the dust www.bbc.com/news/article...

‘Let’s forget the culture war over Europe and embrace Harold Wilson’s spirit of 1975’ Former Home Secretary Alan Johnson has written in the Observer about the moment facing us, and the spirit we need to move forward together.

Liberalism: the one system of thought which doesn't try to bullshit you. The one political belief which does not pretend that everything's going to be ok.

Today marks 50 years since the 1975 referendum to stay in the EEC. We must recapture the spirit of that campaign now and push for the removal of trade barriers, for deeper peace & security ties, and for the ability of young people to travel freely across our shared continent.
