If we're looking for government employees to fire for poor performance, I feel like there are at least a couple who actually are bad at their jobs we could can instead.

Definitely on track.

In fairness, this has been "clearly dumb as dog shit" since at least Bush v. Gore.

This hits hard.

“We must especially beware of that small group of selfish men who would clip the wings of the American eagle in order to feather their own nests.” -FDR, 1941

...a bi-partisan election, the results of which will not be allowed to go against the party in power. As yesterday's tweet says so plainly, it will be martial law first.

Yet again, lowly neighborhood Blog publishes analysis that is approximately 400x more persuasive than country's largest newspaper. Also, very strange that Wurman doesn't reference the "entire literature" supporting his position. It's almost as if that literature was entirely fabricated 🧐

They are not leaving you with other options. I mean, you could defy a legal order and go to jail, so I guess you could say you do have "options."

It's important to remember why the Bush people were wrong, though. Their conception of reality was utterly divorced from the real world and how things work. The world they created in their wake was changed but looked nothing like the one they thought they were creating.

Pete Hegseth isn’t DEI. Daniel Penny isn’t DEI. That’s not what DEI is. They’re just grossly unqualified for their jobs and add no value that any replacement legacy job applicant wouldn’t bring. So stop saying “it’s DEI” like it’s a clever commentary on the situation. It’s not.

After they finish that story, we might recommend reading the rest of the book. You'll be pretty surprised what's in there, clearly.

We are all familiar with buffoons who think they’ve figured out a secret way to win a game when really they’re just blundering around not understanding the rules. Sometimes this is resolved when they are checked by the opposing team or referees. Sometimes everyone just gives up on the game.

The lesson of the United States may ultimately be what happens when people substitute belief in institutions for the principles upon which they were founded.

Well, there is. That he clearly doesn't understand what that difference is, though, is really the problem.

The fact that most MAGA think this is what happened is partly why they are so unconcerned now and we're in this mess.

Disastrously led us in a global pandemic that saw energy prices plummet to levels where he had to threaten gulf states to cut production? Good times.

bro this is the anti-Christ gospel. I cannot emphasize enough that (as Nute says) this is the opposite of the gospel.

Maybe more Confucian.

As chilling a meme as I have seen. But I agree.

Well, maybe Sears.

Thank goodness Iraq emerged from that process secure, stable, and prosperous.

We can't name these two powerful new government officials because they are too young is really not a sentence you'd have expected to read before last week. Now it's only the 4th most stupid Trump thing I've seen today.

I think there is also some kind of bunker mentality here, that we just need to wait this out (like last time) and ride the wave of resentment to electoral victory.

The antidote for despair is action ❤️ * Dial (202) 224-3121 * Enter zip code * Leave voicemail * Say “My name is ___, I’m a constituent in [town]. (If clinician/scientist, say so) “The NIH freeze harms research and patients and must be lifted immediately.” Be brief. Staffers tally all calls. Go! ✅

Yep. I'd always heard he was a genius, but every time he's ventured into a realm where I have specialized knowledge, he sounds like a total f#%@ing moron.

Honest Headline: "Total Dickwads Excited To Use Their Privilege To Shit All Over Others Once Again."

And, you know, eight years after taking the same oath, which he subsequently broke by trying to overthrow the Constitution.

I mean, the literal definition of rationalization.

A lesson I have yet to learn.

The richest...and arguably dumbest...person in the world.
